RING MAIN UNITS (RMU). A Ring Main Unit (RMU) is a totally sealed, gas-insulated compact switchgear unit. The primary switching devices can either be disconnectors or circuit breakers. All the disconnectors in RMU are three position switching devices (On, Off & Earth position).
