[Audio] DR. Rebecca Lee Crumpler 1831-1895 Crumpler was born in 1831 in Delaware to Absolum Davis and Matilda Webber. An aunt in Pennsylvania who spent much of her time caring for sick neighbors and may have influenced her career choice raised her. By 1852 she had moved to Charlestown Massachusetts where she worked as a nurse for the next eight years. In 1860 she was admitted to the New England Female Medical College. When she graduated in 1864 Crumpler was the only African American woman to graduate from the New England Female Medical College which merged with Boston University School of Medicine in 1873. (because the first formal school for nursing only opened in 1873 she was able to perform such work without any formal training) and she was the first African American woman in the United States to earn an M D degree she also stated that she had book she wrote note in about her life while working in the medical field (born Feb. 8 1831 and passed away on march 9th 1985) DR. [Audio] Patricia S Goldman-Rakic (1937–2003) Patricia Goldman-Rakic died on July 31 at the age of 66 she was at the zenith of her career as a world-renowned neuroscientist whose groundbreaking discoveries about the frontal cortex of the brain helped scientists to probe into the neurobiological basis of normal behavior and such complex disorders as schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease. She died of injuries sustained after being struck by a car as she was crossing a heavily trafficked street in Hamden near her New Haven Connecticut home. Went to school at : University of California Los Angeles Vassar College Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. She had a partner who is still living and his name is Pasko Rakic She was born April 22 1937 and passed away July 31 2003. she was trained as psychologist she became one of the most innovative and sophisticated neuroscientists in the modern era of brain explorations. [Audio] The differences between Dr Rebecca lee crumpler and Patricia Goldman-Rakic is that while Rebecca live her whole life working her dream career Patricia didn’t get to because she was hit by a car at the age 66 and not only that she didn’t live a long life she also worked in a different part of the medical science field which was a neurobiological which is someone that works with nervous system while Rebecca worked with sick people or people in need not only but they grew up pretty different while one was black and the other one was white they also live pretty far apart from each other to Some similarities are that they are both woman that worked in the medical science field they both went to school for some of the same stuff even if one was older than the other. they both one awards during their time coming up Patricia specialize in neurobiological which is someone who works with the nervous system while Rebecca worked as a nurse for a while than became a doctor after watching while being a nurse.
