T here are many arguments on which diet is the right choice! Health and wellness community have concluded that a choice minimally processed food which means whole grains and vegetables, fresh fruits are indeed the best choice.

What does whole food and Plant based mean?

Minimize processed food Focus on plant based food,fruits,whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds Minimize sugar, white flour and processed food Limit or exclude meat Pay attention to food quality, locally produced and easily available.

Recommended Allowance of fruits and vegetables in a day!

As per a study conducted only  one in 10 adults  are taking the recommended allowance of fruits and vegetables. The report says with this poor intake or not taking the recommended allowance of fruits and vegetables, have increased chronic diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

As part of a healthy pattern at least  1 1/2 to 2 cups of fruits and 3 cups of vegetables are recommended. Diet rich in fruits and vegetables taken as per the recommended allowance can delay the onset of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and even obesity

So do you think we should switch to a plant based diet?

Whole food Plant based diet is flexible and allows you to include meat but within limits. You have a choice of either not including meat in your meals                                                              OR Include small amount of eggs,poultry,seafood and dairy products

YES! Studies have shown that adopting a plant based diet can promote weight loss HOW? A combination of high fiber food and exclusion of processed    lifestyle  changes  promotes weight loss

Adopting a healthy plant based diet may even keep the weight off in the long run. And simply cutting off all carbonated drinks like soda and candy, fast food and refined grains will be an added advantage to weight loss

Studies have suggested that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables may alleviate  cognitive decline or Alzheimer's disease. For the simple reason that they have  plant compounds and  antioxidants  that aids in reducing the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Do you think that Plant based diet is important to health?

It is obvious from the various studies conducted that a plant based whole food is the best choice to make  especially  now with the pandemic and a boost to the immune system is highly essential

What if you are unable to meet the required allowance of vegetables and fruits?

The two main category of people deprived of plant based  food will be  the  elderly and children below 10 years old who  are not trained in their formative years to include vegetables and  fruits in their diet. There are ways to encounter these issues.
