[Audio] Hypothesis Does the use of technology, as the main form of communication have a negative impact on the user's mental health.

Page 3 (16s)

[Audio] The independent variable selected was INTCHTCT. This survey question measures the amount of communication that is done via text, mobile phone or the internet. The frequency table shows 54% (n=1383) of those surveyed utilize technology as their main form of communication (significant usage); with this determination being based on selections of "all or most all of it" and "most of it". Moderate usage totaled 38.4% determined by the selection of "about half of it" and "some of it" and responses that were minimal to none equaled 6.7%.

Page 4 (52s)

[Audio] The dependent variable that I selected was HLTHMNTL. The survey questions determined the respondent's mental health, mood and their ability to think. Positive mental health ratings determined by the response of excellent and very good makes up 59.4% Individuals surveyed who were found to be within a more neutral, as determined by a response of good, made up 28.8% Those with poorer mental health equaled 11.8%.

[Audio] Here is the graphical representation of the previously mentioned findings.

Page 6 (1m 28s)

[Audio] The statistical analysis Median for both variables is 2.00-representing "most of it" and " very good" respectively.

Page 7 (1m 35s)

[Audio] Most of the respondents returned a mental health self-rating as pretty good and good. The responses regarding usage show a strong return of most of it and about half of it. Respondents who used technology under the category of "most if it" within the "very good" mental health category showing 43% (n=153). Since the categories of "very good" and "fair" both fulfill the 10% rule, with "good" and "excellent" exceeding the 5% rule, I would consider this to show a significant relationship between the two variables..

Page 8 (2m 44s)

[Audio] Measures of association Utilizing the Gamma Correlation Method, This would return the logic of knowing the use of technology will reduce the error in the prediction of one's mental health by 0.2%.

Page 9 (3m 0s)

[Audio] The five steps to hypothesis testing The null hypothesis is When technology is the main form of communication there is an association with one's mental health. Significance will be seen with an alpha equal to 0.5 The chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.044 This shows that the p is less than the alpha, thus rejecting the null hypothesis. This analysis would show that the usage of technology as the main form of communication does indeed influence an individual's mental health..

Page 10 (3m 37s)

[Audio] Conclusion The significance returned for these variables show's that there is an association between the usage of technology, As a main form of communication, and the user's mental health. (p=0.044) Further tests will need to be done to determine if increased usage has a detrimental effect to one's mental health..
