Nanotechnology  is the term given to those areas of science and engineering where phenomena that take place at dimensions in the nanometer scale are utilized in the design, characterization, production and application of materials, structures, devices and systems. நானோ தொழில்நுட்பம்  என்பது அறிவியல் மற்றும் பொறியியல் துறைகளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ள சொல் ஆகும், அங்கு நானோமீட்டர் அளவுகோலில் பரிமாணங்களில் நிகழும் நிகழ்வுகள் பொருட்கள், கட்டமைப்புகள், சாதனங்கள் மற்றும் அமைப்புகளின் வடிவமைப்பு, பண்புருவாக்கம், உற்பத்தி / பயன்பாடு ஆகியவற்றில் பயன்படுத்தப்படுகின்றன.
