[Audio] "In the English language, the word 'get' is often used as an alternative for 'become' in certain contexts. Here are some examples of this. He is getting better - talking about someone improving in some way. Sorry bro, I could not come to your party yesterday, I got tired - referring to someone becoming tired. My back is getting stiff - describing a physical change. It's getting harder and harder to crack any competitive exam - talking about something becoming more difficult. These fees of examinations have gotten to be ridiculous - referring to something becoming outrageous in price. ".

[Audio] "When substituting "get" for "go, come, or arrive," it is important to pay attention to the context of the sentence. In our example sentences, we have used "get" to mean "go" in the first sentence, "come" in the second, and "arrive" in the third. In the first sentence, "My father will punish me if I don't get home on time," it is clear that the speaker is referring to the action of going home. In the second sentence, "He did not sign up for the tour because it was not really hard to get around in," it is clear that the speaker is referring to the action of coming around. Finally, in the third sentence, "She got back from her maternity leave," it is clear that the speaker is referring to the action of arriving. In each of these examples, the use of "get" works well to substitute the related verbs of "go," "come," and "arrive.".

[Audio] In this example, "get" is used as a way to understand a concept. When someone has "got your point," this means they have understood an idea you are trying to explain. Additionally, if you ask someone if they got what you were trying to get across, you are asking whether they have understood what you were attempting to communicate. As you can see, "get" can be used instead of "understand" in many contexts..

[Audio] Arrive". "The word 'get' is frequently used as a substitute for 'arrive', both in speaking and in writing. For example, instead of saying 'My friend arrived at the airport last night,' you might say 'My friend got to the airport last night.' This is a useful replacement word when you need to avoid repeating words in your writing or speaking.".
