[Audio] Hello! Welcome to the UAE ECO-Grid challenge presented by IIT Delhi! Are you ready to take on the challenge ?.

Page 2 (14s)

[Audio] Here is the electric grid of UAE with total electricity demand of 1375 MW. Your goal is to build electricity generation in the grid that can meet the demand of UAE grid with minimum CO2 emission…. If you could successfully build a sustainable grid at the end of the game, you will win! So, get ready for the instructions .. You must be seeing the 4 connected cities with one generation plant on your screen..

Page 3 (41s)

[Audio] Click on the SCHEDULE icon on top as shown here to schedule the existing generator..

Page 4 (49s)

[Audio] The black line is electricity demand curve for 24 hours in a day..

Page 5 (56s)

[Audio] Now click on 'Auto Schedule' button to check how much generation we have..

Page 6 (1m 4s)

[Audio] The blue portion shows the available electricity generation..

Page 7 (1m 11s)

[Audio] We can see that the blue line is lower than the black line which means that the generation is less than the demand. Therefore, we need to build more generators..

Page 8 (1m 23s)

[Audio] Click on the Design icon to design the grid further and add generator..

Page 9 (1m 30s)

[Audio] Now, click on generator icon to build a generator..

Page 10 (1m 36s)

[Audio] You can see that there are 5 type of power plants are available: Coal, Gas Turbine, Combined Cycle, Wind and Solar. You can select any one power plant of your choice and click on 'build'..

Page 11 (1m 53s)

[Audio] DRAG YOUR POWER PLANT TO ANY LOACTION NEAR ONE OF THE CITIES.

Page 12 (2m 0s)

[Audio] Now, CLICK on Tower icon TO ADD transmission LINES TO CONNECT POWER PLANTS TO CITIES.

Page 13 (2m 10s)

[Audio] CLICK ON BUILD TO ADD LINE. 500-kilovolt Single AC Sascha 500-kilovolt Single AC Transmission Line 500-kilovolt Single AC Transmission Line Thermal Limit: 2 GW Resistance: 41.40 mOJkm Sascha: Another major goal for power grids is to minimize pollution. These days. that especially means bringing down C02 emissions that contribute to global climate disruption-.

Page 14 (2m 15s)

[Audio] CONNECT YOUR POWER PLANT TO ANY ONE OF THE CITIES BY click and drag..

Page 15 (2m 25s)

[Audio] We have successfully added a power plant. Now, click on the 'schedule ' icon to check how much generation we have..

Page 16 (2m 36s)

[Audio] Click on Auto schedule button. The generation has increased as we can see from blue. Green ticks shows demand is fulfilled. Red triangle shows more generation is required. As long as there are red triangles, you have to add more power plants..

Page 17 (3m 4s)

[Audio] And to add a power plant, click on 'Design icon'.

Page 18 (3m 10s)

[Audio] Now, click on generator icon again to build a generator..

Page 19 (3m 16s)

[Audio] Choose any one power plant of your choice. Please note that Solar and Wind have lowest CO2 emission but they are not always available. Coal has highest CO2 emission..

Page 20 (3m 44s)

[Audio] Now, build a line. YOU need to keep repeating the process of adding generators until you get all green ticks..

Page 21 (3m 54s)

[Audio] Once you get all the green ticks like this, click on the bulb icon at top to start the grid..

Page 22 (4m 3s)

[Audio] Wait for grid to run for 1 day. At the end of 1 day, if your CO2 emission is less than 20,000 ton, you will win!.
