SUBSCRIBER –BASED TRASH & RECYCLING AUTOMATION PROGRAM

[Audio] E.L. Harvey will continue to provide curbside trash and recycling services to the Town of Mendon. The town has moved to Municipal Automation Services for all Trash and Recycling. Automation means that: all trash and recycling must be in toteRs ALL TOTERS MUST BE capable of being emptied by the Truck's mechanical arm..

[Audio] THERE ARE TWO (2) EL HARVEY TOTERS PER HOUSEHOLD Each paid subscriber household is issued: One Gray Lid 65-Gallon Trash Toter And One (1) Blue Lid 65-Gallon Recycling Toter.

*Depending on the size of the household trash bags will determine how many will fit into the 65-Gallon Toter.

Toter can hold 5 or more *Tall Kitchen Trash Bags

There are larger households that may have more trash which may not fit in the the 65-Gallon Gray Lid Toter

Mendon allows a household to use a 2nd 65-Gallon Toter for trash if needed.

How to Recycle Tips and Tricks to Get Started

ALL RECYCLABLE MATERIALS GO IN THE BLUE LID TOTER.

ALL PAPER Newspapers, magazines, office paper, cardboard, cereal boxes, etc.

PLASTIC CONTAINERS #1 - #7 DO NOT CRUSH AND KEEP LIDS ON Soda & water bottles, laundry detergent bottles, milk jugs, yogurt tubs, etc.

METAL CONTAINERS Tuna cans, aluminum cans, clean aluminum foil, metal lids , etc.

GLASS CONTAINERS Loose glass bottles and jugs, etc.

DO NOT PUT PLASTIC BAGS IN THE RECYCLING TOTER.

BLUE LID RECYCLING TOTER All recyclable materials go into the Blue Lid Toter All recycling should be loose in the Toter Flatten and/or cut up cardboard to save room in Toter

A:  THE TRASH/RECYCLING CURBSIDE SERVICE IS BILLED TWICE A YEAR.

BILLING IS DONE USING A  FISCAL YEAR  (JULY – JUNE) •  NOT  A CALENDAR YEAR (JANUARY – DECEMBER)

THE 1 st  BILL IS MAILED OUT IN MAY – PAYABLE IN JUNE, TO COVER THE FIRST 6 MONTHS FROM JULY TO DECEMBER

THE 2 nd  BILL IS MAILED OUT IN NOVEMBER – PAYABLE IN DECEMBER, TO COVER THE LAST  6 MONTHS FROM JANUARY TO JUNE

Q: CAN I PUT OUT MORE RECYCLING THAN JUST THE BLUE LID TOTER?.

A:  NO – UNFORTUNATELY THE WASTE & RECYCLING INDUSTRY HAS 	CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. PAST CONTRACTS HAVE ALLOWED 	MENDON TO PAY A FLAT RATE REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH 	RECYCLING WAS COLLECTED.  NOW, MENDON IS BEING 	CHARGED PER TON OF RECYCLING MATERIALS.

ONLY THE BLUE LID TOTER ISSUED BY EL HARVEY WILL BE 	COLLECTED ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

Q: HOW DO I DISPOSE OF THE EXTRA RECYCLING THAT WON’T FIT IN.

A:  WE APPRECIATE THE TRUE EFFORTS OF RECYCLING, AND IF YOU ARE 	RECYCLING MORE THAN WHAT THE 65-GALLON BLUE LID TOTER CAN 	HOLD, WE RECOMMEND VISITING THE BLACKSTONE VALLEY 	RECYCLING CENTER.

Non-resident stickers are $40 annually and expire yearly in December.
Payment is accepted at the recycling center as cash and checks for the sticker.
THE BLACKSTONE VALLEY REGIONAL RECYCLING CENTER IS JUST
10 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE MENDON TOWN HALL.
