[Audio] PRE MODERN WORLD (BEFORE THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION) GLOBALISATION : refers to an economic system where human societies have become steadily more interlinked as travelers , traders , priests and pilgrims travelled vast distances for knowledge and spiritual fulfilments or to escape persecution ..
[Audio] Since ancient times , human societies have become more interlinked through trade and trave . In the past traders ,travelers , priests and pilgrims travelled , they carried goods and money to other land . They brought back goods and precious metals. These visits led to exchange of ideas , values , skill and techniques. Food habits and knowledge of growing special crops travelled with them . Travelers carried germs and diseases ..
[Audio] SILK ROUTES – LINKS THE WORLD Many silk routes , over the land and by the seas , have connected together vast regions of Asia with Europe and North Africa . These resulted in vibrant pre – modern trade . Through this route Chinese pottery , Indian textiles and spices from South East Asia travelled to Europe. The most well known silk route connected China to Europe . West bound Chinese silk cargoes travelled on this route. Trade and cultural exchanges went hand in hand . Early Christian missionaries and later Muslim preachers travelled through this routes , similar with Buddhist missionaries also..
