The poem, “The Black Man’s Son” was written by Oswald Durand. This poem is about a black man’s son that loved everything about a white woman named  Lise . His parents that were biracial  which means his mother  was white and his father was black. This shows why the man’s son loves  Lise  so much because he sees his parents love story.

Scene 3

The poet intends to make the reader be in sympathy because the black  man’s son is seeing his mother in  Lise . The poet says “yet my mother was white as  Lise . She too had shining eyes of blue.” This helps the reader understand why the black man’s son loved  Lise  because she was similar to his mother.

Scene 4

The poet creates a romantic atmosphere in the poem. This causes the reader to feel loved and warm because the black man’s son is saying what he loved about  Lise  and who she reminded him of. These help to create a romantic atmosphere that makes the reader experience the mood.

The poets tone can be described as admiring. The admiration cane be seen when he says,” At twenty, I loved  lise,She  was frail and white, Won scarce a glance from those bright eyes. “This shows how much he is admiring about her physical  features.

The theme of the poem is that you don’t need to be the same skin color or race as someone to love them. Clearly the black man fell in love with a white woman they got married ,now the same situation  is happening with his  son. The poem teaches that it doesn’t matter what color is your skin you can love someone the opposite color.

Descriptive  language is being used in the poem by the poet. The poet used descriptive words which created sensory, for the reader. This gives the reader a vision on what is being said in the  poem.

Scene 8

This poem made me feel elated and tense at the same time. I  was happy how he describe  Lise  and he loved her .I got a bit tense when he told her  that he loved her ,her face grew pale when he said it ,he immediately noticed and was in fear from her reaction.
