[Audio] The Tenasserim pine is a medium to large sized evergreen coniferous tree, reaching heights up to 148 feet in ideal conditions. The bark is orange-red, thick and deeply fissured at the base of the trunk, and thin and flaky in the upper crown. There are 2 green needles per fascicle, and are usually 6 to 8 inches long. The cones are narrow conic, (2 to5 inches) long and 1.5 inches broad at the base when closed, green at first, ripening glossy red-brown. They open to 2 to 3 inches broad, often sometime after maturity or following heating by forest fires, to release the seeds. It grows in the mountains of southeastern Burma, northern Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and on the Chinese island of Hainan. It generally occurs at moderate altitudes, mostly from 400 to 1,000 meters or ( 1,300 to 3,300 ft), but occasionally as low as 100 meters or ( 330 feet) and up to 1,200 meters or ( 3,900 feet). The tree is named after the Tenasserim Hills between Myanmar and Thailand..

[Audio] How to grow Tenasserim Pine Collect pine cones when they mature during fall, and remove the individual seeds. Soak the pine seeds in water for 24 hours Since the seeds have little to no dormancy, just sow them in a soil medium right away, either in a pot, or in the ground. Water the germinating seedlings just enough to sustain them, and keep them in shade. You will notice that at ages 3 to 4 years, the Tenasserim Pine seedlings develop a temporary "grassy" look, due to the very long needles in comparison to the short stem. This will resolve itself as height growth speeds up..

[Audio] Where to grow Tenasserim Pine The tree cannot tolerate low temperatures below 25 degrees Fahrenheit, or severe frost damage occurs, and the tree dies. It grows best in USDA zones 9 to10 worldwide. Thank you for watching this video, and I hope you found it informative. Have a great day!.
