[Audio] Swami Vivekananda’s real name was Narendranath Datta. He was born in a Bengali family on January 12th 1863. Swami Vivekananda’s birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day in India. He was a symbol of ‘high thinking and simple living’. His father’s name was Shri Vishwanath, and his mother’s name was Bhuvneshwari Devi..

[Audio] He was extra talented in swimming and wrestling. Swami loved India very much. His message to the youth of India was ,“Be strong and fearless.”. From childhood onwards he showed intellectual power by asking unexpected questions and thinking. Vivekananda’s fame helped him to establish the Ramakrishna Mission in many places..

[Audio] The Mission runs many schools and hospitals. It helps poor people in many ways. He was also very brave. Because of his bravery and intelligence, he became the leader of his group of friends. He believed education is the manifestation of perfection already in men. He believed that the service to mankind should be selfless ,as service to mankind was service to God..

[Audio] Swami introduced Hindu philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga in Europe and America. He was influenced by the teachings of the Mahabharata and Ramayana . “Pavan putra Hanuman” was his ideal for swami’s life. At the end of the 19th century, there was a conference of all regions in Chicago, USA ..

[Audio] Vivekananda represented India at that conference. He started his speech with a silent prayer, and he addressed it as ‘Sisters and brothers of America.’ Everyone was deeply influenced by that speech. Swami Vivekananda became famous throughout the world after the Chicago conference. The main objective is to promote rational thinking among the youth, believed to be the future of the country. The professor was impressed by Swami’s talent and intelligence..

[Audio] After that they gave Swami the position of representative of the World parliament. Swami felt that the Hindu Samaj has the potential to become the spiritual teacher to the world. He believed “Take up one idea your life.Think of it:Live on that idea; let the brain, muscles,nerves,every part of your body be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”.

[Audio] Karma yoga,Raja yoga and Prema yoga are the famous books by Vivekananda published his life time. He was not married because he considered all women to be the manifestation of the divine mother of the Universe..

[Audio] Swami died on July 4th ,1902 , at the age of 39. The rock was built in the honor of Vivekananda . It is located in Kanyakumari,Tamil Nadu,India..
