PHYSICAL TRAINING. The initiate part of physical preparation Physical Training : Physiological attributes necessary for sport success are developed through appropriate physical preparation, which is training. 2 Main Goals : increases athletes’ physiological potential : maximize sport-specific biomotor abilities 2 Parts : General Physical Training (GPT) : Sport-Specific Physical Training (SSPT) Important to enhance body fitness components (5HRF , 6SRF).

GPT : begins at the initiation of the preparatory phase Scope of training is to build a solid physiological foundation Ultimate Goal : to improve athletes’ working capacity and maximize physiological adaptations in order to prepare the athletes for future workloads Targets the development of every component of physical fitness to increase work capacity.

Serves as a transition from GPT to the competitive phase Further develops the athletes’ physical capacity in a way that is very specific to the demands of the sport It enhances the athletes’ abilities to recover from and to adapt to the training loads , which ultimately enhance the performance capacity. During preparation phase , SSPT includes higher volumes of sprint or interval training and tactical drills that are specific to the sports. The scenario created during SSPT is highly likely the scenes which will be encountered by the athletes during the competition..
