[Audio] The first time I learnt about speech therapy was when I came for work attachment at the occupational therapy unit at the Seychelles Hospital. That was way back then when I was still in secondary school. At the time I was still evaluating my career options..

[Audio] When a child cannot express himself or herself , this mat leave them and others around them frustrated. So with speech therapy this can help them to communicate better. Their words become clearer with time. Their pronunciation becomes better. They are able to express themselves more than before. They become more confident. They are able to tell you about their day or what they have watched on TV. And when you as a parent you see all these positive changes, you re happy of course. It helps you to understand your child better..
[Audio] To you, what is the importance of speech therapy within a community?.
[Audio] When the child becomes confident through speech therapy they don't get frustrated with others, they know that others understand them better, so they are not afraid to interact with other people within their surrounding. You as well as a parent you become more relaxed because you know that if there is anything your child is able to express themselves well enough and they can participate in conversations. ..
