During this Covid 19 pandemic where all around there was a situation of unrest, uncertainty, companies closing down, challenges with retaining jobs, difficulties of making ends meet due to unavoidable circumstances, we the Alumni of Don Bosco , Andheri Unit took up the task to reaching-out to the underprivileged the marginalized and the needy ..

We started with distribution of food packets initially to nearby areas, quickly extending the outreach jurisdiction to various parts and corners of Mumbai. As this movement grew we also started getting support from various individuals and organisations which helped us to take our outreach program to many places outside India as well as internationally..

Key highlights - Andheri Unit. Food distribution drives in slums and vicinity in and around Mumbai. Food & Ration distribution to orphanages and needy institutions. Oxygen cylinder supply drive at many places across India. Ration Distribution locally and across many states in India Reach out to 56 under privileged girls at Canossa Convent, Mahim.

Key highlights - Andheri Unit. First time in the history of our Alumni we extended our limitations and reached-out to people in Haithi , Africa, Srilanka & Nepal with distribution of food items and consumer durables Also first time in the history of our Alumni two units Matunga & Andheri came together to celebrate Diwali with our Shelter Wadala boys. Reach-out to our Don Bosco Oratory boys at Matunga Felicitation of Frontline BMC workers.

Key highlights - Andheri Unit. Prayer for Myanmar - On call of the Salesian youth movement, we conducted an online prayer service for Peace and to stop bloodshed in Myanmar. This prayer service was attended by most of the unit members, their families & School teachers. Green Initiative – As part of our green initiative the Andheri unit conducted a tree plantation program at Aarey colony. 20 Saplings of trees having natural use to the inhabitants were planted. It was a half day program where food was cooked and served to us by the Adivasi inhabitants residing there. This program was well attended by unit members and other volunteers..

Key highlights - Andheri Unit. Daan Utsav – This was a reach-out program to our very own evening study & Basti Kids. Football Tournament - With the objective to help and promote our youth the unit conducted a 2 day 5 a sided in-house foot ball tournament on our very own lush green Dominic Savio School grounds. In all 32 teams participated in this tournament and the winners were awarded cash prizes and trophies. We thank our house confreres for their support and guidance in conducting this event successfully..
