Audio Recording.m4a. Introduction and Rationale of the study This COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the regular educational practices. It has even affected the academic pursuits of researchers, students, and academic institutions in many ways. Consequently, leading to a huge educational loss. It has not only affected the students and academics but also to researchers in many ways. As institutions of higher education have limited in-person activities, research and training have been disrupted. Many graduate students have faced new barriers as a result (Chenneville and Schwartz-Mette, 2020; Thompson, 2020)..
Audio Recording.m4a. In recent past, not much emphasis could be given to integrate technology into the teaching learning process and especially integration of technology has never been adopted and accepted as a regular process or the formal mode of conducting educational research. So, practice change in conducting educational research has changed reasonably, with the peculiar rise of integration of technology, whereby research is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms. The tools like Survey Anyplace, Survey Sparrow, Survey Lab, Centiment, Start question, Google Forms, Type form, Smart Survey, etc., helps individuals to create surveys, polls, quizzes, and web forms, which are then distributed to respondents to conduct educational research, or request feedback and opinions. Also, with respect to the data analysis for both qualitative data and quantitative data still it is perceived to be the toughest task for most researchers..
Audio Recording.m4a. As a solution for this much software has been developed for analyzing the data both qualitatively and quantitatively. The software like CAQDAS (Computer assisted qualitative data analysis); SPSS, STAT, R, and MATLAB (for quantitative data analysis) are several most widely used software which force researchers to organize and clean their data and offer pre-programmed commands that allow everything from very basic to quite advanced forms of data analysis. After studying the facts of conducting educational research during the COVID-19, the investigators felt the need for this study. So, the investigators have taken the topic for the study “Practice Change of Prospective Teacher Educators in Educational Research in the wake of Covid-19”..
Audio Recording.m4a. OBJECTIVE 1. To study the gender related differences in the perception of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19. 2. To study the gender related differences in the knowledge of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19. 3. To study the significant differences in the perception of practice change among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19. 4. To study the significant differences in the knowledge of practice change among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19..
Audio Recording.m4a. HYPOTHESES Ho 1. There is no significant difference between the mean score of perception of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19. Ho 2. There is no significant difference between the mean score of knowledge of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19. Ho 3. There is no significant difference between the mean score of perception of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19. Ho 4. There is no significant difference between the mean score of knowledge of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19..
Audio Recording.m4a. METHODOLOGY Quantitative descriptive survey method (survey was conducted by using an online survey tool). SAMPLE AND SAMPLING TECHNIQUE The research was conducted with 17 male and 33 female, totally 50 prospective teacher educators studying at Patna Training College, Patna of 2020 - 2022 batch. Therefore, the study group was determined with a convenient sampling method. TOOLS Self-constructed e-questionnaire consisting of 15 items for each questionnaire and the content validity was established based on the discussion and responses by the experts and hence, the final draft of e-questionnaire was named as, (i) Perception test on Practice Change in Educational Research (PTPCER) (3 Point Likert scale) was developed and validated by the investigators. (ii) The Knowledge Test on Practice Change in Educational Research (KTPCER) was developed and validated by the investigators..
Audio Recording.m4a. PROCEDURE OF DATA COLLECTION The link of the prepared online tool was sent to the sample of 50 prospective teacher educators studying at Patna Training College, Patna, of 2020 - 2022 batch, through email and other sharing platforms. An informational consent form was also attached to the e-questionnaire, and each participant consented to participate in the survey after reading the consent form. They filled in their responses and submitted their feedback online. The investigators compiled the online responses for further analysis of data and for testing the hypotheses. STATISTICAL TECHNIQUES Mean, SD, and, t-test were used for analyzing and interpreting the data..
Audio Recording.m4a. DATA ANALYSIS AND MAJOR FINDINGS.
Audio Recording.m4a. H0 1: There is no significant difference between the mean score of perception of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19..
Audio Recording.m4a. H0 2: There is no significant difference between the mean score of knowledge of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19..
Audio Recording.m4a. H0 3: There is no significant difference between the mean score of perception of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19..
Audio Recording.m4a. H0 4: There is no significant difference between the mean score of knowledge of practice change among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19..
Audio Recording.m4a. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION Through the study it has been found that there is no significant difference between the mean score of perception of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19 and there no significant difference between the mean score of knowledge of practice change in educational research among prospective teacher educators during COVID-19. It might be due to the reason that the male and female prospective teacher educators are almost equal techno-savvy, and both the genders are almost equally oriented through their curricular transactions to how to bring pragmatic change in their practice in conducting educational research in adverse situations also..
Audio Recording.m4a. It is also found out there is no significant difference between the mean score of perception and knowledge of practice change among prospective teacher educators belonging to urban and rural set-up during COVID-19. The probable reason behind this may be that technology has nothing to do with the place of habitat of prospective teacher educators. Because changing the primitive practice of conducting educational research and integrating technologies into the practice of conducting educational research empowers a person with the 3A’s concept i.e., anyone can do research anytime from anywhere..
Audio Recording.m4a. EDUCATIONAL IMPLICATIONS The NEP, 2020 stressed the usage of technology in education. It will help to promote the use of technology and makes the researchers more engaging. Integration of technology in educational research is a panacea for outmoded ways of conducting educational research. Samples are approachable and data can be collected at ease. One can design and develop questionnaires by using different survey tools and questionnaires tools and can be shared with the respondents at just with the one click through a different online sharing platform. It will help to broaden the possibilities of active participation of respondents because they can fill the responses at their convenience and can submit the response just after filling the form without any further delay. Also, large numbers of data both quantitative and qualitative can be analyzed very easily through different statistical software packages. Provide opportunities for rigorous research practice in collaboration with their peers, mentors and experts irrespective of time and location. Facilitate new ways of conducting educational research and create possibilities beyond the limits of this prevailing situation of COVID-19. Help investigators to become active thinkers, problem solvers, skilled communicators, and knowledge constructors..
