Scene 1

[Audio] There are many versions of the rune alphabet, the 3 main ones are The younger Futhark, The elder Futhark, and the Northumbrian, the more runes you have the more detailed your readings.. 

Scene 2

Among runes, there are many different variations of the runic alphabet that can be used, the most common are;

1.   Younger Futhark – 16 runes Best for vague or simple questions and readings

2.   Elder Futhark – 24 runes Good starting set with enough runes to give good readings to most questions and readings This will be the set referenced for the remainder of the presentation

3.   Northumbrian – 33 runes Best for very specific or detailed questions and readings

[Audio] When selecting runes choose ones that you connect with, Many people make their own runes so there is a stronger connection and better readings. 

Scene 3

When selecting your runes, once you have picked your alphabet, you need to pick your material and style

Runes are typically made of stone, wood, clay, or bone

Make sure you feel connected to the runes you choose as it will provide a better reading

Many people make their own runes, this way you have the strongest connection and get the best readings

After making or choosing your runes make sure to consecrate them Consecrating is like a small dedication that will add your personal power to your runes This can be done through a simple prayer or proper ritual

[Audio] Each rune has a pronunciation colour, association, and meaning for example Fehu founds like F is associated with cattle, the colours brown and green, and meaning is wealth. 

Scene 4

Each rune has a name and pronunciation, something it stands for, an associated  colour , and a casting meaning. For example, “ Fehu ”

Casting Meaning:   Fehu  is a rune of power and control. It represents new beginnings and wealth

[Audio] In addition to your runes you will also need a pouch or box for storing your runes, a summary of rune meanings a cloth to cast your runes on. 

Scene 5

The first thing you need, of course, are your runes. In addition, you will also need;

Pouch or Box for storing pick a material that will allow energy to get to your runes and also allow them to release energy as well. Any fabric pouch will work A wooden box is also good so long as it is not heavily coated with stain/varnish

Rune Meanings Summary A “cheat sheet” of rune meanings is useful to have, unless you have already memorized all the meanings

Casting Cloth A simple cloth to throw your runes onto during casting Great for outdoor castings Material and  colour  of the cloth is up to you, pick something that you connect with

[Audio] Mearmots, or talismans to focus your mind, and writing tools.

4.    Mearmots Personal items and talismans that help you to focus your mind Use items that mean something to you and to the reading If casting about  conerns  for someone else, use a picture or something that reminds you of them. If casting for someone else, have them bring a personal item to use

Pen or Pencil, and paper Many people record each of their readings so it’s helpful to keep writing tools on hand If casting for someone else they may want to have the information for later use or reference Also helpful when you do a casting that you may want to read more into but can’t remember the exact casting meaning for the runes Also helpful to write down your question with your  meatmots

[Audio] To cast runes and do a reading the most important thing is to feel comfortable and prepared, Things to take into consideration are the time of day, the weather,. 

Scene 7

When casting the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and prepared,  the following are basic guidelines, change them to suit you best .

Time of Day during the day, outside, with the sun shining OR near midnight when the veil between this world and the “Other World” is at it’s thinnest, therefore getting help from spirits

Weather Bright and sunny days are best for most people Weather can affect our mood and in order to cast runes and get a good reading, you need to be in the best frame of mind

[Audio] Your surrounding energy fields, and how you set up for your reading. 

Scene 8

Surroundings Be careful of surrounding energy fields such as power lines, or even other people Having people around  who are skeptical or doubt the runes can impact your own emotions and disrupt the reading

Casting  Set-Up Face the sun (or moon), typically east or west Layout your casting cloth, and get comfortable Place your  mearmots  and written question on the opposite side

[Audio] With the prep done, you can now cast your runes. Cast them onto your cloth and from those face-up choose the number of runes you need for the layout you are using. 

Scene 9

Cast Your Runes Concentrate on your question and toss the runes down on the cloth in front of you. Choose the number of runes that you’ll need for the spread that you have chosen  (layouts to follow) To do this you are only going to use then runes that landed face-up. If you do not have enough Recast the runes that landed face down

Picking The Runes Pick a single spot on the cloth before you cast the runes and pick up the face-up rune closest to it to fill the first spot in the spread, continue to the next closest, an so on. Another way is to draw an imaginary line down the center of your casting cloth and pick the rune that lands face-up and closest to the line, continue to the next closest, an so on

[Audio] There are many casting layouts to choose from, so for now I will go over 3 of the simple layouts that will answer most questions. 

Scene 10

There are many ways to cast runes and many different layouts. For now we will focus on the following 3 simple layouts;

[Audio] First the 1 rune layout, simply choose a rune and it's meaning will represent the outcome toward your question. 

Scene 11

The most basic layout involves one tile. You can cast the runes and pick a rune, or just reach into your rune pouch and pick a tile out.

This rune is read as the general feeling and overall attitude toward the question. It also represents the outcome to your question

[Audio] Next the 3 rune layout, where each of the 3 runes represent either past, present, or future. 

Scene 12

This is a three-rune reading in which the three runes represent the past, present, and future.

1.   The past – influences that have had an effect on the past in relation to the question being asked. 2.   The present – things presently happening that have an effect on your current situation in relation to the question being asked. 3.   The future – the outcome of the question being asked.

[Audio] Finally the Cross layout, using 5 runes form a plus sign that provides a look at influences, obstacles and outcomes to your question. 

Scene 13

With this reading you will form a “plus” sign with the 5 runes you pick after you cast the on the cloth.

1 – Represents the basic influences that underlie the question. 2 – Represents any obstacles to overcome. 3 – Represents beneficial processes. 4 – Represents the possible outcome. 5 – Shows all future influences on the outcome.

[Audio] With this you should be able to start casting runes yourself and take a leap into learning more about rune casting divination.

With this you now should understand the basics of rune casting. You can now start casting yourself and dive deeper into understanding the runes and what they can teach us.
