Watering using solar Power for Irrigation system purpose THEME : ENERGY CONSERVATION.

Page 2 (19s)

ABSTRACT : In recent days, people working in agricultural fields are facing lot of problems in cultivating their crops. The solution for such a problem is provided by the solar powered irrigation system. Here with the help of solar panel, submersible pumps, PV cells are used in producing energy. In this system, the moisture sensor and the pH level sensor are powered wirelessly. The sensed data values are transferred to the user mobile via GSM communication method. The aim of this paper is to help the farmers to use water effectively and use solar energy for irrigation purpose.

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION 1. The supply of electricity is not reached up to every villages. Solar energy is the most abundant source of energy in the world . Solar based irrigation system: a suitable alternative for farmers in the present state of energy crisis in India (also it is an eco- friendly – green way for energy production) . Provides free energy after an initial investment is made..

Agriculture livestock watering / crop irrigation, home gardens and drip irrigation systems.  Domestic portable water for remote homes, campgrounds.  Pond water management and water transfer.  Water supply for villages in developing world  equivalent voltage this is given to a sensing circuit which has a reference voltage that can be adjusted by the farmer for setting different moisture levels for different crops..

FUTURE WORK :. Prediction of requirement  Suppose we have to run 2HP motor for irrigation. For that the energy required is: 2HP=1.5 Kw. :. 1.5 Kw=1500 watt Power=volt*current V=240 v So, current(I)=1500/240 =6.25 A.  Requirement for rechargeable batteries of 120V: Power=volt*current 1500= N*volt*current (N=number of require batteries) 1500=N*240*6.25 :. N=2. (2 batteries are required) Cost Analysis :.

LITERATURE SURVEY / REFERENCE:. LITERATURE REVIEW Energy Use in India For Irrigation • According to the survey conducted by the Bureau of Electrical Energy in India in 2011 there are around 18 million agricultural pump sets and around 0.5 million new connections per year is installed with average capacity 5HP. • Total annual consumption in agriculture sector is 131.96 billion KWh (19% of total electricity consumption). • So solar powered smart irrigation technique is the future for the farmers and a solution for energy crisis..

Conclusion : • By implementing the proposed system there are various benefits for the government and the farmers. For the government a solution for energy crisis is proposed. By using the automatic irrigation system it optimizes the usage of water by reducing wastage and reduce the human intervention for farmers. • To further enhance the daily pumping rates tracking arrays can be implemented. This system demonstrates the feasibility and application of using solar PV to provide energy for the pumping requirements for sprinkler irrigation. Even though there is a high capital investment required for this system to be implemented, the overall benefits are high and in long run this system is economical..
