[Audio] Congratulations and welcome to the Normanton Recovery Family. As you are aware, the purpose of Normanton Recovery Community and Wellbeing Service ( NRCWS), is to support you in your recovery from AOD misuse. This means that you will be required to actively participate in a range of individual and group programs and activities, specifically designed to help you to stay strong. This involves participating in drug and alcohol counselling, education and testing, regular health checks, as well as self-help strategies to help you gain more control of your AOD misuse issues. This Centre will also work with you on managing some of the impacts that your usage has had on your overall health and wellbeing, your quality of life and lifestyle, your relationships, your finances and capacity to earn, your standing in the community, any legal obligations and restrictions etc. Stages of Recovery Program, It is encouraged that all residents undertake a basic 12 week residential intensive program, which consists of the following 3 stages. Stage 1 (Weeks 1 – 4): Holding and Healing – This is a period of intensive support mentally, emotionally and physically to enable residents to stabilize and to prepare for a life without alcohol and drugs. Stage 2 (Weeks 5 – 8): Recovery Intensive: Challenges, Choices and Changes – The focus of this phase is to help residents to: weigh up their options, challenge themselves to do things differently, and to make some changes in lives and lifestyle choices. Stage 3 (Weeks 9 – 12): Contribution, Connections and Community – This final period prepares residents for their return to community as an active and respected member of the community..
