[Audio] Context & Rationale Reading is a uniquely human activity characterized by the translation of symbols or letters into words and sentences that communicate information and mean something to the reader. This action research aimed to improve the reading level of fifty-four (54) selected grade two pupils at Maharlika Elementary School for the school year 2022 2023. . It is then a vital task of all concerned especially the teachers to improve the quality of instruction to help the slow readers and readers at risk acquire the basic knowledge and skills in reading which could be utilized as avenues to undertake other subject areas prescribed in the curriculum..

The future of today’s students depends on how well they understand and use a wide range of texts in a thoughtful way. [Audio] Acknowledging the importance of reading many developed countries have established reading programs to promote reading and develop the reading skills of young students (Adler & Fischer 2001; Lonigan & Shanahan 2009). Some focus on enhancing the quality of reading instruction that is provided by teachers and parents while others attempt to improve the quantity of available reading materials. [Audio] findings The reading progress of Grade II pupils as reflected in the weekly monitoring tool during the implementation of the program is evident that there is an improvement on the reading level of the respondents. The reading status of fifty-four (54) Grade Two pupils prior to the intervention program no one or zero percent (0%) could recognize and decode the four indicators such as syllable phrase sentence and short story. [Audio] Implications Before the conduct of the intervention program the respondents find reading difficult. Most of them could not even decode simple syllables. During the implementation of the intervention program the number of learners who cannot read had gradually and continuously decreased. The results of the fourteen-week conduct of Pull-out Scheme gained positive upshots. It implies that Project A-L-C-R-A helped to improve the reading level of fifty-four Grade II pupils with positive results and effectiveness..
[Audio] recommendations Learning to read is probably one of the most important skills that children need to obtain. This reading program is a rigorous reading intervention program intended to meet the needs of students whose reading achievement is lower than the proficient level.Given the large amount of research reviewed on effective reading programs and the findings from this study it can be recommended to implement the Project A-L-C-R-A thru the Pull-Out Scheme program to improve the reading level of struggling readers in any of the schools in Tagaytay City District..
