[Audio] Introduction The sudden rise of container and cargo volumes in the Batangas Container Terminal encourage us to propose the Batangas Port Development and Reclamation Project. As global trade continues to grow, existing port facilities become insufficient to handle or manage the increasing container and cargo volumes. Background The Batangas International Port is in Barangay Sta. Rita, Batangas City with a land area of about 150 hectares. It is under the management of the Philippine Ports Authority (P-P-A--). Philippine Ports Authority (P-P-A--), an attached government agency and controlled corporation under the Department of Transportation, which is responsible for financing, management, and operations of public ports throughout the Philippines. The Batangas Container Terminal (B-C-T--) of the Batangas Port is a major commercial port/harbor outside Metro Manila that serves major industries in Southern Luzon. Based on P-P-A statistics, total volume of cargoes and containers that discharged and loaded at the port are as follows: For information, the design capacity of Batangas Container Terminal (B-C-T--) is 450000 T-E-U--. T-E-U is a measure of volume in units of twenty-foot-long containers. Based on Philippine Ports Authority (P-P-A--) statistics, the Batangas Port has already reached its actual design capacity of 450000 T-E-U by 2023 as shown in the table..

Rita, Batangas City with a port capacity of 325180 T-E-Us as shown: It has an offshore coverage of five (5) hectares, more or less cut along the line edge of the existing port with boundaries well defined by the U-shape port berthing lines to be designed as containment wall of the reclamation platform. The proposed port development is close to trading partners for efficient access to import and export markets to reduce transportation costs. Availability of skilled labor or well-trained workforce nearby is also essential for smooth port operations and maintenance. The location is within a well-developed port with modern facilities, berths, and cargo-handling equipment that enhances its efficiency and attracts shipping lines and cargo owners. The location has a stable and predictable regulatory environment that contributes to long-term project viability and within a Foreign Trade Zone (F-T-Z--) that offer benefits such as duty deferral, streamlined customs procedures, and tax incentives. The location has near access to the port by road, rail, pipeline, or conveyor for cargo flow and distribution..

[Audio] Data Collection and Analysis The following tools were used in the collection of needed data and information, namely: Review of relevant documents and reports. An extensive review of relevant documents and reports was made including, among others, the documents and reports listed in References section. Directly observing the project area. Survey of existing households. The exact location of the proposed project is located at Brgy. Sta. Rita, Batangas City which is nearby existing port. By directly observing the project area, we found out that there were no existing households living in the exact location of the project. Environmental impacts. Air pollution; Noise; Impacts on water quality and the health of marine life; Land or soil pollution Aside from all the environmental impacts mentioned, the Batangas Port has been issued an Environmental Compliance Certificate (E-C-C--) by the Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (EMB-DENR). At present, the Batangas Port has been recognized for its environmental initiatives and compliance. It has received multiple Green Port Award System (G-P-A-S-) recognitions from the apec Port Services Network (A-P-S-N-) for its sustainable practices. Additionally, the port is certified to ISO 9001:2008 and implements the Port Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System (PSHEMS)..
