The history of mass incarceration. Mass Incarceration/ the prison system was created right after the release of the slave population in the late 18 th century. It was used as a societal feature that operated under the guise of law and justice in order to tame and control the African American population. Our system of mass incarceration has since grown and developed exponentially and turned into a monster economic system with its hand in just bout every aspect of society. (spider web).
