BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION IN THE BIBLE. Bribery and corruption started in the early days and the Bible considers both as not a minor sin but a predominate subject. Some bible verses that talks about bribery and corruption are; “ You shall not take bribe, for bribe blinds the clear sighted and subverts the cause of the just”(Exodus 23:8) “a wicked man accepts bribe behind the back to pervert the ways of justice”(Proverbs 17:23).

The word “Corruption” is derived from the Latin word “ corruptus ” ,which means “corrupted” and in legal terms it means the abuse of entrusted power or position of authority for private material or social gain at the expense of others. Corruption compromises the rights and privileges of others..

BRIBERY. The word “Bribery” is derived from the Old French word “briber” or “ brimber ” which was later transferred to the late Middle English as “bribe”. Bribery can be defined as money or a gift given to a person to make a difference in a person’s judgement or behavior . Some examples of bribery include; A manufacturing firm paying foreign officials, money for preferential treatment or to smuggle unregistered goods across borders. A professional sports franchise bribes an official for preferential treatment or to fix the outcome of the contest.

CONCLUSION. From our interview, the interviewee sighted an example from the Bible about when Judas took a bribe in the form of silver coins to betray Jesus Christ and he also talked about how as children we took bribes from our brothers and cover up an offense they’ve committed. So here, he further explained that the silver coins Judas took influenced his decisions and led him to betray Jesus. He also made mention of the numerous cases about bribery and corruption. He concluded by saying “ there have been numerous of solutions for bribery and corruption but most of them are theoretical but not practical and therefore bribery and corruption cannot be curbed totally but rather can be reduced..
