OE #17.  describe, sort, classify, build, and compare two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional figures, and describe the location and movement of objects, through  investigation Here, Jabril was comparing the size and shapes of the square and triangle In this kind of play, child develop lots of skills such as social, physical and problem-solving Children also came to know about the length, width, volume, etc.

SE # 17.1 .  explore, sort, and compare the attributes (e.g., reflective symmetry) and the properties (e.g., number of faces) of traditional and non- traditional two-dimensional shapes and three- dimensional figures (e.g., when sorting and comparing a variety of triangles : notice similarities in number of sides, differences in side lengths, sixes of angles, sizes of the triangles themselves; see smaller triangles in a larger  triangle). He showed this, by saying that ”  this is a tower of squares, and this is a tower of rectangles. The tower of the squares is the  tallest.

What will we do (Curriculum Plan) We can bestow to Jabril, a number of play based activities related to math This provide him the vistas to practice math Which will cover measurements, numbers, symmetry, balance, and estimation by comparing and learning  To extend the play, we can allow him to problem-solve, captivate his curiosity and learn math naturally every time he is playing with the blocks

Please describe this in detail as though you were giving directions to a supply staff who was required to set up your experience in your absence . We can let Jabril to opt the play according to his interest We can provide them the group activities like:  The play will be set up in the carpeted block area with ample space for Jabril and his friends to explore and play: Ensure that the area is well lit and free from clutter. This activity will be offered after nap time/afternoon snack (3:00pm onwards). This play can be participated with a maximum of 4 participants . Provide the children the wooden blocks of different shapes, sizes and colors from the colored baskets found in the block area. Provide printed outcomes of models like house, towers, for the provocation. As educator and facilitator of the play, provide responsive care by being present and be the  broadcaster  in case need be. Adhere to COVID-19 safety practices by letting the children wash their hands before and after play. Sanitize the toys after play. Do not forget to document the play experience for scaffolding purposes.

What are you planning to build today? Can the bridge or tower be any taller? Why do you think it tumbled down? If we secure the bottom foundation to be sturdy, do you think the tower will not tumble down anymore? Will the height of the blocks differ if the starting point is different? (For example, the block tower made on the floor is placed on the table, will that make the tower taller?)   Can you show which block is the smallest and which block is the biggest?

As educators, we will be close to the play area to answer Jabril’s questions and provide  assistance . We will put the material in the children’s basket according to shapes and sizes.   As this activity is a scaffolding for his interest in mathematics and blocks.  imaginative  in his play.  Through block play Jabril will follow his own plan discovering new ideas by creating, transforming. demolishing, and recreating something unique.
