It's a permanent tissue that contains chlorophyll.  It assists plants in performing their photosynthetic function. They contain a primary cell wall which is unevenly thickened and mostly thickened at the corners. The cell wall is made up of cellulose  They are compactly arranged and intercellular spaces are mostly absent. They contain a primary cell wall.  They are living cells.

Location of Collenchyma. Collenchyma tissue is found immediately under the epidermis, young stems, petioles, and leaf veins. Collenchyma is commonly seen in climbing stems of a plant. Also, it has been seen in avocado fruit hypodermis..

FUNCTIONS OF COLLENCHYMA. Collenchyma helps to provide strength to the plant's stems, branches, leaving, and other structures. This helps and provides strength to the plants to grow up without breaking from their own body weight(provides mechanical strength to the plant) Collenchyma also provides a protective layer for plants that contain water holding- cells called hydrochomes..

ANGULAR COLLENCHYMA. It's a type of collenchyma in which thickening occurs at the corners of the cells, giving them a distinct angular appearance. It is the most common collenchyma.

Lacunar is a kind of collenchyma which  contains intercellular spaces, and thickening is more around these spaces

ANNULAR COLLENCHYMA. Annular collenchyma cells are the rarest collenchyma cells. They have uniformly thick cell walls. They have been observed in the leaves of carrot plants. Lacunar collenchyma cells are arranged in a way that produces intracellular spaces, and the cell wall thickenings are adjacent to these spaces..

LAMELLAR COLLENCHYMA. It is also called PLATE COLLENCHYMA They have thickened tangential walls and are arranged into ordered rows. Laminar collenchyma is located in an elderberry stem with secondary growth. It is mainly found in organs undergoing primary growth..
