Play-based activity: Building Blocks. Block building are suitable for pre-school children aged 3-5 years old. Building blocks are effective play-based activity which helps children with their developments and boost their imagination, self-expression, mathematics, enhances children’s problem-solving abilities. Children get expose to all sort of different colours, shapes, sizes, and numbers while building blocks which further gives opportunity to children to explore concepts of mathematics including length, measurement, comparison, number, estimation, symmetry, and balance throughout building using blocks ( Kemple , 2015). Throughout this activity children social and mathematics skills are supported as they will interact with each other verbally and non-verbally to discuss the mathematical concept of how many blocks should be enough to build a building or how tall, big can they build. EYLF learning outcome 5.1 Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes. EYLF learning outcome 4.4 Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, ad processes materials.
