Because cement shrinks after drying it leaves hollow spaces below tile surface. Cement might seem like a cheaper option but application of tiles using cement is a very time consuming and labour extensive process as the tiles need to be soaked before the application, then they have to be dried and making the cement mixture is itself a very time consuming process, once the tiles have been fixed curing needs to be done, however all of this hassle can be eliminated by using Tile Adhesives (a ready mixture for the application of tiles).
