[Virtual Presenter] Good morning everyone. Nutrient deficiency is a common problem for many plants, particularly nitrogen deficiency which can greatly impede their growth. Plants are able to resolve this issue by releasing isoflavonoids and betaines, which are transported towards them by microbes through a chemosynthetic response. In addition, nodulin and nodulation genes assist in forming root nodules and establish a symbiotic relationship with rhizobium, which is critical for plants to receive the necessary nitrogen..

[Audio] Nitrogen deficiency is a major challenge for many plants. This presentation explains how it is addressed. Plants respond to this deficiency by releasing isoflavonoids and betaines which are moved towards the plant by microbes through a chemosynthetic response. In addition, nodulin and nodulation genes help to form root nodules and facilitate a symbiotic association with the rhizobium. Lipochitin is composed of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine which is linked with a β-1→4 fatty-acyl chain. This process creates a signal of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine oligosaccharide, allowing for the exchange of nutrients between the plant and the microbe..

[Audio] Without greetings and beginning with "Today": Today, I will explain how nitrogen deficiency in plants can be resolved. There are two groups of compounds involved in this process: isoflavonoids and betaines. Microbes move these compounds toward the plant in a chemosynthetic response. In addition, nodulin and nodulation genes help to form root nodules and establish a symbiotic association with the rhizobium. Nacetyl-D-glucosamine facilitates this process through two steps. The first one is N-acyltransferase, which catalyzes the addition of a fatty acyl chain. Secondly, NodB acts as a chitin-oligosaccharide deacetylase and removes the acetyl group from the terminal non-reducing sugar. Moreover, the host-specific nod genes are involved in the modification of the fatty acyl chain or the addition of other groups. All this is necessary for establishing the host specificity. I thank you for listening..
