Scene 4 (52s)

[Audio] A smartphone is a device that everyone in the room probably has seen or personally has in their pocket or purse. It is a phone that can do so many things. But when you first get a new phone, you might feel overwhelmed by all the new features and possibilities and first just want to learn how to make a call, send a text, and take a photo or video. This phone is FULL of power—you can call, text, take pictures, capture videos, send emails, find an address or a map, play music, read the news, and even track your exercise and calories by downloading and customizing an endless variety of apps! In a way, a new smartphone is like our High School Social Studies programs! They are powerful programs that can transform your Social Studies instruction, but it can be overwhelming at first. There are many features to learn, but today, in order to get started with the programs, we'll share just the key information to get you off to a great start instead of overwhelming you with ALL the bells and whistles. Just like your smartphone, the more you use HS SS programs, the more comfortable you'll get with the programs and all the features they have to offer. During this session I'll show you the basics and point you to lots of other resources you can explore as you're ready to learn more..
