[Audio] Today, I noticed how interview podcasts are rapidly changing the way people learn socially when I returned to my rural hometown in Sweden. My high school friends had been listening to the latest American interview podcasts and it had become a form of social learning for them. While these podcasts may not be the best medium for transferring facts, they are great for transferring thought patterns, tones and speech forms. When we listen to interviews, we react as if we are talking to someone in person, and tend to subconsciously imitate the speech patterns of the person, especially when the tone is informal. This can create the feeling that we are interacting with the person, and can cause us to share the same values and points of view..

[Audio] Technology has made it possible for everyone to access intellectual conversations, revolutionizing social learning. Podcasts make it possible for people to have access to these conversations in their everyday lives, providing an opportunity to hear perspectives from people of different backgrounds and experiences. This brings discourse that was previously inaccessible outside of universities and other institutions, and significantly expands social learning, reshaping the way conversations are spread across the globe..

[Audio] Podcast interviews have become a defining feature of modern life, providing us with an outlet to hear from a range of different voices, ideals and philosophies. We can observe the different strategies they use to grapple with difficult questions and sometimes even imitate them. This unprecedented access to conversations has had an undeniable influence worldwide, giving people the chance to learn and adopt new behaviours. Though the reach of this form of social learning is incredibly powerful, there are some concerning implications to this trend. We must be aware of the potential for people to absorb unhealthy imitations, such as a lack of balanced turn-taking, without any awareness or intention. It is remarkable to consider how this way of learning could have far-reaching implications, affecting everything from the French Revolution to industrialization to the rise in scientific knowledge. Podcast interviews offer us an unprecedented opportunity to witness these events first hand..

[Audio] The power of social learning and the potential of podcasts to expand access to intellectual conversations cannot be underestimated. Conversations Erasmus and his friends had in the past changed our world. Now, thanks to podcasts, this is possible on an unprecedented level. People from around the world have access to conversations they otherwise wouldn't. This not only provides them with knowledge and insight, but it also motivates them to participate in similar conversations and start businesses and blogs related to these conversations. We can't be sure of the exact impact these conversations will have on our world, but we do know it will be significant..
