This requires the development of a framework within which risk exposure can be monitored and controlled. Risk management is a tool by which people involved in sport can seek to meet their duties..

Risk management is a vital part of staying safe in any form of physical activity, although sport is very important to most active individuals, there is also risks that comes along with the participation in sport particularly in a professional level where most athletes take their respective sports very seriously. The downside of sports is the injury and lack of risk management which can lead to devastating outcomes such as chronic pain and injuries. Injuries are a major concern for youth who play sports. Sports injuries are the biggest contributors to childhood injuries, injury can cause physical and psychological consequences during youth if injury prevention is not taken seriously. the sport where injuries occur most is Basketball, this is due to number of times a basketball player must jump, run and rebound, especially to an athlete this can cause excess strain on the hips and legs. Actions to prevent these injuries are highly recommended, it is important to take extra steps when participating in sport to prevent these injuries..

In the U.S., about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports, and more than 3.5 million injuries each year, which causes loss of time the injured person can participate in sports. Almost one-third of all injuries incurred in childhood are sports related injuries. The most common injuries are sprains and strains. Although death from sports is rare, the leading cause of death from sports-related injury is brain damage. More than 775,000 children, ages 14 and younger, are treated in hospital emergency rooms each year for sports-related injuries. Along with Basketball, Football has one of the highest rated of injuries and the types of injuries being, Overuse injuries, Concussions, Shoulder injuries, ankle sprains and knee injuries..

These include developing a fitness plan that includes cardiovascular exercise, strength training, flexibility, warming up before an exercise or sports game is also important as it increases blood flow, helps deliver oxygen to the exercising muscles and increase body temperature which reduces chance of muscle and tendon injuries, learning proper techniques, resting when tired, training and resting after sports matches will help reduce the chances of injuries..
