Monitor blood glucose levels Watch for signs and symptoms of hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia Take note of ketone breath or body odor (fruity) Be aware of electrolyte imbalances Educate patient on managing diabetes through balancing medication and dietary intake Patient may benefit from counseling with a certified diabetes educator or dietitian.
