[Virtual Presenter] I will give a brief description of who I am, what the purpose of the presentation is. For example: hello i am here to present a mobile technology solution for the business ‘movers and shakers’, I will not only introduce my mobile technology system but will also mention the current technologies and strategies used by different departments and truckers for example paper based navigation..
[Audio] talk about the current technology mover and shakers are using to preform their daily job and list a few disadvantages that occur by using these methods. 'mover and shakers methods of planning and tracking deliveries are outdated and inconsistent, some drivers use outdated satnavs (maps) and some use paper which is inefficient and unreliable.' Their method of communication is inefficient as they only make calls when at pit stops, this means information about location, breaks taken and rest times will be received every 4 to 6 hours. The disadvantage of this is there is a lack of communication giving a delay of important information by hours and isn't a systematic pit/rest stops. Another disadvantage is the tracking of the delivery isn't a thing, this could lead to drivers deliberately missing rest stops and driving long distances (or the opposite) without the head office knowing could lose out on money by delivering late or wasting fuel on by wasting time..
[Audio] I will then talk about what technology I will use and why. The reason I am using google maps is it allows for updated, accurate route tracking. This also provides the drivers with information like road works on the route selected with the speed limit on each road. As I am recommending the system to be used on IOS and macOS operating system I would go with the apple maps, this isn't as accurate for movers and shakers daily deliveries compared to the pricing for delivering including price per year of £79 for the app they may be in app purchases. There may be a large gap in price for google maps (£200) and apple maps (£79) per month and may be viewed as a disadvantage but google map provides routes across the world and wont need to be renewed in another 20 years. The reason I have chosen to use GPS is it will allow for the trucks to be monitored on their route, this can be used to see if they are on time or are delayed. This can be updated on the system for customers to see the distance of their order in real time, this can also be used to see if there are taking required breaks or unscheduled breaks. The hardware I have chosen to operate they system is an iPhone, this is because it has strong security and is easier to use. In have also chosen to use iPhone due to their built in 'find my iPhone' in case it goes missing or possibly stolen. As the drivers are always on the move and can only make or receive calls when at a rest spot I have used Bluetooth to allow for phone calls to be made without taking hands off the steering wheel or losing focus for example 'siri call head office' will allow for the phone to make calls without the driver physically doing anything.
[Audio] I will then talk about how one of the requirements of movers and shakers was to keep track of efficient fuel usage. I will talk about how electric login device will be needed in all the delivery vehicles and what it does for example, electric login device keeps track of the fuel in each vehicle while on the move, this will prevent drivers from wasting time/taking longer or more breaks/or taking less breaks during delivery time. Some advantages are: Location of the vehicles are always displayed to the head office Length and time of delivery can be documented for future routes (this will be supported by the navigation device) The monthly price is roughly £11.49 a month yearly would come to a average of £137.88 for every delivery vehicle will come to £17,235 a year The advantage of this is tracking the usage of fuel and speeding up deliveries will overall build into the profit barrier..
[Audio] I will then go onto mention my solution to meet their requirements. I will talk about how instead of getting an off the shelf system that may not meet the satisfaction of the business, I would instead recommend a bespoke system unique to their business needs as it is custom made. I will then talk about the advantages for example no complicated or unnecessary features that don't meet the requirements of movers and shakers, space is provided in case they want to expand on certain departments for example extra storage of customer and employee data. I will link back to their current methods and how maps and speed limits were inaccurate. I will then mention how the navigation system will provide updated routes with the quickest route to the destination entered into the navigations system and how when entering each road the speed limit will be presented on the screen. The navigation system will also provide information like roadworks, this can be beneficial as it will save time and money for the business..
[Audio] I will then go on to talk about the price of the operating costs. SIM card cost £54,600 per year; this sum was done by calculating the 1-year plan plus the total for the number of drivers. 35x12=420 and 35x130=4,550 420x130= 54,600 the SIM will be compatibly with the hardware I have chosen (iPhone 7 plus) Tire pressure gauge will need to be on standby on all hours of driving, this is in case of a load being to heavy (tire pressure will need to be dropped a few PSI)this could lead to a blow out and be a safety risk for the driver and other road users, another issue is it can be to bust (unsafe for reaction time/stopping speeds)to safely deliver the goods. Calculations for this was 15x130=1,950 The hardware I will be using is an iPhone (preferably iPhone 7 plus or higher) although the overall cost is a shocking five figure, this can be reduced if the delivery driver already owns and iPhone reducing the overall costs. The system is not compatible with android as it will be fixed on IOS and macOS as they are already provided with strong security that will be durable incase of any possibly malicious intent. The calculation was 180x130=23,400 the iPhone wont be on contract..
[Audio] I will go on to mention the training that will be required to operate the system. The system will be bespoke, this means it will be custom built to fulfil mover and shakers desires. The system developers will provide a run through of the system and its features to help support and introduce then to the system. They will be given the knowledge to help them grow, a guide will also be provided for future purposes for example a new employee or memory refresh on where to locate different features..
[Audio] Finally I will present possible risks and constraints that may come with the system. Risks: One of the biggest risks when creating a new system is handling and implementing data and information about the business/staff/customers. Some information can be sensitive, if the data is leaked trust/reputation can be lost. This can also violate the data protection act and a law suit can be put in action to possibly putting the business in jeopardy. Being careless is another risk for example weak passwords or security can be destructive towards the process of transferring data. Not wanting to spend money on security or rotating passwords due to the budget could put the process of building the system to a stop possibly leaving data vulnerable and a loss in profits or customer/suppliers support/loyalty. Constraints: Relying on data can cause issues if delivering or travelling through rural areas as the signal may be jittering (logging out and needing to manually sign in) as they may be out of range for a signal, there are ways to avoid these situations by purchasing more technology like internet inside the trucks or signal boosters, this can lead to more constraints like the following: Budget is the biggest constraint as the system will be supported with the latest and most reliable technology. If the budget is low and refuse to increase it this can cause the system to lack in some departments and not last long term (updating technology can interrupt with the system).
