Grade  11 History Capitalism and Communism: The challenges of the world.

Topic one:  Each learner  must write an essay  between  500-800 words  on the background of Capitalism and Communism. Topic two: Divide into  2 groups ,  one group  has to  represend  the communism side and the  other group  the capitalism side and  display   2 events  that took place between the two groups. Topic three:  Each learner  has to  draw 2 images ,  on of the communism side with all the countries that are communist, and another images of the capitalism side and all the countries that are capitalist . Topic four:  The learners  must explain what caused the Russian Revolution and what impact did this revolution have?

How will the students achieve the Aim/Objectives

Topic one: My aim is that the learners will gain and use their own knowledge when they are writing their essay. I want them to focus on their time schedule and that they will also focus on using the right grammar when they are writing the essay. They must also focus on what events are important and what resources are the most trustworthy. Topic Two: By dividing into 2 groups, I want to enhance their social skills and by interacting with other students, they will firstly gain more knowledge and have another outlook on the work, secondly they will interact more in class and become more confident. This is also a way of making the class more fun and energetic.  Topic 3: When drawing the two symbols with the participating countries, this is a way of remembering and memorizing the countries and their divide. This will help then in a source based question to remember on which side was the different countries.  Topic 4: I want to make the learners aware of what impact the battle between capitalism and communism lead to and what was the outcomes of it. The Russian Revolution played a major role and this will be a small introduction for the next lesson.

The Telling Method By using the Telling Method, I as the teacher can/will deliver an oral presentation each lesson, about the particular topic e.g. explaining what communism and capitalism is and how it was introduced, how Marxism , socialism and Leninism began and the impact it had. It is a specific aim to improve the thought processes of my learners. This method can help my/the learners to remember something, or to understand, or to apply, analyse and evaluate or create something. I want my learners to understand the impact and importance of History, how communism and capitalism affected the world. 2. The Scaffolding Method By using the Scaffolding Method by Vygotsky, I as the teacher can teach my learners a certain skill. The certain skill can be how to properly and correctly write an essay, that has the correct information, dates and certain events that can make their work more knowledgeable and more intriguing. When writing exams in History, it is important that a learners essay, has the most and accurate information in the essay. 3. The questioning Method -   By using the Questioning Method, a teacher can ask questions to direct the attention of the learners to what is to be presented and also towards the achievement of learning outcomes.  A teacher can as ask questions about the work to make sure that the learners understand know the work. If the learners are not able to reply to the questions correctly you as teacher has to look at another method to explain the work better to the learners that they can understand and after that ask the same or other questions to see if they can answer correctly to the questions.

1.Discussion By discussing the topic in class through class discussions, small group discussions , panel discussions, brain storming exercises ,  symphosia  and debates in the classroom, the learners can openly discuss the work among each other. The main aim of this method is, so that the learners can see the different views of the work that the other students have. My discussing communism and capitalism, the learners can gather extra information about what other events took place and what impact did it have on the participating countries. 2.Co-operative learning The learners will learn how to work together and can ensure that all the learners understand the work and have learnt something that they were unaware of or had misinformation. The groups will be organised and tasks will be handed out with instructions and a certain structure that will put them in a position to work together as a group and to reach an end goal and solve problems.  3. The Project Method - The project method is a method in which the learners will work individually to gather information on a certain topic e.g. Who invented  Marxism , socialism and Leninism, what is the differences and similarities between them and sources need to be referenced and supported. Work individually the learners will grow their own knowledge privately and will learn how to work independently.

This media support History for grade 11 and the topic between communism and capitalism.  I can use this media to make the topics more interesting. It makes the work more fun and catches the attention of the learners much quicker and easier. Learners can access this website of creating their own posters, they can make and share their own. It is just a fun and easier way of asking questions and getting the question across.  This media images/posters would be send to users to their mobile devices. It will also be handed out to them by me when they are not able to print or receive the information.
