Subtotal orbital exenteration with infraclavicular skin grafting in invasive basal cell carcinoma eyelid.
Orbital exenteration. Orbital exenteration is an extensive surgical procedure that involves removing the total soft-tissue contents of the orbit. Classified by the amount of soft tissue that is removed. Total exenteration involves the removal of the entire orbital contents, including the periosteum, periorbita, and eyelids. Subtotal exenteration spares some of the periorbita, such as the eyelids, retrobulbar fat, or muscle cone. Extended exenteration involves the removal of the bony orbital walls and sometimes the sinuses in addition to a total exenteration procedure..
