Castle in the Sky  ( 天空の城ラピュタ  ,  Tenkū  no Shiro  Rapyuta ; also known as  Laputa: Castle in the Sky ) is a film written and directed by  Hayao Miyazaki  and produced by  Tokuma   Shoten . It is the first film created by  Studio Ghibli  and released on August 2, 1986, although it  is  considered the second by some, as  Nausicaä  of the  Valley of  the  Wind  was created by  the  founding members two years prior. During its theatrical release, it was screened alongside two compilation movies for  Sherlock Hound ,  The  Adventure  of  the Blue Carbuncle ,  and   Treasure Under the Sea .

Sheeta (シータ, Shīta), born Lusheeta Toel Ul Laputa (リュシータ・トエル・ウル・ラピュタ , Ryushīta Toeru Uru Rapyuta, 'Toel' meaning 'True' and 'UI' meaning 'Ruler' in Laputian) is one of the main characters in the film, Castle in the Sky.

Scene 6

Pazu (パズー) is one of the primary protagonists of Castle in the Sky and becomes Sheeta's close friend after she lands in the mining city he lives in. It is implied that he develops romantic feelings for her.

Scene 7

Dola is the captain of a band of air pirates in Castle in the Sky. Colonel Muska is her arch-enemy. She is interested in the treasures of the ancient floating city of Laputa, which initially puts her at odds with the film's protagonists. She is voiced by Kotoe Hatsui in the Japanese version, Rachel Vanowen in the Streamline version, and Cloris Leachman in the Disney dub. Dola comes across as bossy, greedy, and selfish at first, wanting nothing more than to get her hands on Laputa's treasures. Later, however, she is revealed to be a rather soft-hearted person who grudgingly grows fond of Sheeta and Pazu. Sheeta, in particular, reminds Dola of herself as a child. Dola's sons adore her and always obey her orders, even if they frequently forget to address her as "captain" and instead address her as "Mom." Dola is also brave and resourceful, which has helped her become a successful and respected air pirate over the course of her life.

Scene 8

Motro is a character from Castle in the Sky. He is Dola's husband and works on board the airship Tiger Moth as its engineer. He is voiced by Ryuji Saikachi in the Japanese version, Clifton Wells in the Streamline English dub, and Eddie Frierson in the Disney English dub.

Scene 9

Louis is Dola's eldest son and a member of her gang of air pirates in the movie Castle in the Sky. He is voiced by Yoshito Yasuhara in Japanese, Dave Mallow in the Streamline English version, and Mandy Patinkin in the Disney English version.

Scene 10

Charles is Dola's second-oldest son and a member of her gang in Castle in the Sky. He was voiced by Tazuko Kamiyama in Japanese, Barry Stigler in the Streamline English version, and Michael McShane in the Disney English version.

Scene 11

In Castle in the Sky, Henri is Dola's youngest son and a member of her gang of air pirates. Sukekiyo Kameyama provided the Japanese voice, Eddie Frierson provided the Streamline English version, and Andy Dick provided the Disney English version.

Scene 12

Colonel Muska (ムスカ大佐, "Muska taisa") is a government special agent who serves as the main antagonist in the film Castle in the Sky. His goal is to use the Aetherium crystal to seize control of Laputa's superior technological power. His full name, Romska Palo Ul Laputa, reveals that he is biologically related to Sheeta and a descendant of the royal line of Laputa. In Japanese, he was voiced by Minori Terada, in Streamline English by Jeff Winkless, and in Disney English by Mark Hamill. Colonel Muska believes that, as a descendant of Laputa's royal line, he is entitled to rule Laputa and use it as a powerful weapon to bring the Earth under his control. Muska, unlike Dola and her gang, is uninterested in Laputa's treasures; he wants to find the island for the power it will provide him. Muska is cold, calculating, and treacherous, and he will turn on his allies once he has used them to achieve his goals.

Colonel Muska's Bodyguards are henchmen and supporting antagonists who guard and assist Muska in Castle in the Sky.

Scene 14

General Muoro is the secondary antagonist in Castle in the Sky. Muoro is a general in the army and is Colonel Muska's subordinate. Muoro is voiced by Ichiro Nagai in the Japanese version, Mike Reynolds in the Streamline English version, and Jim Cummings in the Disney English version.

Scene 15

Uncle Pom is an old coal miner in Castle in the Sky. He was voiced by Fujio Tokita in Japanese, Edward Mannix in the Streamline English dub and Richard Dysart in the Disney English dub.

LESSON LEARNED. There are so many lessons I learned from this film that we can apply in our lives. To face our fears and keep pursuing our dreams. The main characters shows that no matter what and how big challenges we face in life, keep in mind that we can do it. There are problems that seems to be no solutions. Don't forget to trust God and his plans, we just need to have faith. In terms of pursuing our dreams, there are many obstacles we may face. Just do our best, dont be scared from the word "fail and rejections". It's okay not to be okay. Never give up and live your life to the fullest. - Benedict Joe O. Asor.

Having a lovely and caring friend is a big yes to us. like  sheeta  and  pazu’s  friendship, they are the good example of friendship that we want, they helped each other to discover the floating city of  laputa . and also, it has a great humanity and a sense of innocence. - Jared Stanley Roque

Castle in the Sky exceeded my expectations. It's so impressive that even our group and other youth can completely relate to this film. I learned life lessons and was fascinated by the concept.  Sheeta's  kindness and  Pazu's  bravery. There is a quotation, "A king without compassion does not deserve a kingdom." -  Sheeta  People nowadays use their positions for self-interest. Greed and selfishness are the root causes of evilness. On the other hand, love, kindness, and family are the main source of happiness. It takes me to unforgettable adventure in my life. This movie shows the dreams in our lives that looks impossible to reach.  Dont  ever give up no matter what, just keep pursuing our dreams.  - Benedict Joe O. Asor

Scene 19

This movie was a lot of fun to watch and had an interesting plot. It's an excellent film that addresses real-life issues such as greed and corruption. The film's presentation is absolutely stunning, transporting you to places like a green hilltop contrasted by the industrial city's mute, grays, and blacks. The plot revolves around a boy attempting to reach Laputa and a girl who possesses a magical stone that aids the boy in his quest. Every single supporting character is well-written and has their own intentions and goals. This film is exceptional and a must-see for anyone looking to have a good time.  - Dax Martian Villanueva

Castle in the sky is such a good movie to watch and it is very recommended. my insights about it is Castle in the Sky symbolize hopes and respect because it shows humanity. castle in the sky is a very interesting movie since it’s a sort of adventure movie that can caught your interest or attention to watch it.  - Jared Stanley Roque

In terms of plot and graphics, Castle in the Sky blew me away. This film portrays the idea that there is no such thing as a perfect universe, and that everything is, or should be, perfectly balanced. When I first watched the film, Laputa: Castle in the Sky, I was in awe, It was a very heartwarming and transformative film.  Laputa: Castle in the Sky is a film that leaves audience with the message that while we as a society are not yet able to coexist peacefully with nature, it is possible. Laputa is not destroyed; it continues its existence even after its weapons are gone. It ascends further into the sky, seemingly unreachable, which can be reminiscent of the idea that Laputa is an ideal that we should strive to achieve someday. It represents the duality of technology and humanity and how its usage matters in the sense on how humans chose to use it. We are unable to achieve this ideal at the moment, but it doesn’t mean we never will. - Anika Rose Torres
