Specifically, this short course introduces new beginning farmers, ranchers, and veterans to basic farm fundamentals in crop and livestock production, farm and financial management, marketing strategies, food safety, and risk associated with farming..
[Audio] Pre-requisite: New, beginning farmers, ranchers and veterans in Mississippi who have not farmed consecutively for the last 10 years..
[Audio] Objective and Outcomes The objective of this short-course is To provide an online educational short course to new beginning farmers, ranchers, and veterans in Mississippi on basic farm fundamentals. It is interactive and encourages learners to gain subject-matter knowledge through online learning materials, videos, chats and discussions. Participants are encouraged to engage through chats and group discussions. Alcorn State University's Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) provides oversight of this platform, and instructions for navigating Canvas. [Audio] Coursework You must complete all 5 Modules and corresponding pre-test at the beginning of the module and post-test at the end of the module. You can work at your own pace, but the goal is to complete all modules by May 19, 2023. REMINDER You will not be able to move to a new module until you have completed the previous module..
[Audio] Assessment The pre-tests and post-test are required for evaluation purposes ONLY. Each module will have the same questions for both pre and post-tests. Each test is based on the videos and presentations.
