What’s one piece of advice you wanted in your teenage?.
As per the survey, 62.7% of professionals prefer to take an upskilling program that gives them access to a mentor. The survey reveals that a whopping 87.9% respondents think access to a seasoned mentor can profoundly boost their career success and trajectory while 79.4% feel that one of the best ways to transition to a position in a new industry is with the help of a mentor. Having access to an experienced mentor helps professionals identify and bridge their skill gaps and expedite knowledge acquisition to achieve their career goals. On being asked about challenges in one’s career growth, 41.9% of professionals chose ‘the need of a mentor to guide them’. The survey also revealed that 46.4 % of respondents were unable to find a mentor that suited their needs..
About the Non-Profit. .
Anudip transforms lives by creating aspirational livelihoods through digital inclusion in emerging economies. A nonprofit company with operations in India and USA, Anudip has been empowering motivated young job aspirants from difficult backgrounds since 2007. Anudip beneficiaries, youth and women, are from high-need, marginalized communities; they may be religious minorities, tribals, political refugees, people with disabilities or victims of trafficking. They are led through a process of continuous improvement, in-depth and diverse training and continuous mentoring at the various skill development training centres across India. Our curriculum, enriched with educational technologies and customized content creates an immersive professional development program.
All the volunteers would be in a team of 1 mapped to 2 beneficiary After the orientation session, the volunteer will be in breakout room with the beneficiary for scheduling the learning activity on Goal Setting. The first 5 minutes, the volunteer has to set repport and with the beneficiary and make them feel comfortable. The volunteer can now mentor the beneficiary and prepare them on Goal Setting along with important tips. After the session, the volunteer can evaluate the learnings of the beneficiary post learning activity..
Improved self-esteem and self-efficacy. Improved soft skills. Increased knowledge of academics and career choices. Improved social network. Gain practical advice, encouragement and support. Greater preparedness for career opportunities and ability to secure jobs.
DOS & DON’TS. Introduce yourself and start a friendly conversation. Talk about the beneficiaries present work nature (only if they are employed in any part time/full time opportunity at a reputed institution) and understand their career expectations. Initiate a conversation about their skills and qualifications and connect it with available opportunities where they can apply for. Provide good examples on present day inclusive environment in the work sectors and build confidence in them. Always be kind and empathetic in the call. Refer your personal work experience. Maintain a professional relationship with beneficiary. . Don’t ask any personal information( gender, family history, etc,) Don’t use any scenarios which accuse them on their present jobs(unethical) Don’t give any false /wrong facts or wrong information during the call.(Unverified Whatsapp forwards Dont set any personal expectations..
