THEME:. Jesus. Mary. Muhammad. Vishnu. 1. Spirituality : In Chapter 36, Pi recited their name when he was in wreck and he wanted to rescue Richard Parker. He prayed, worshipped and believed in Gods even he was in trouble..

3. Companionship: They were depended mutually. They had faced struggle, difficulties, they overcame and they succeeded. That duo couldn’t be survived if one of them weren’t been there.

4. The nature of living things: Everyone tries their best to survive whenever they are in emergency or in matter of life and death. For example, Pi ate meat although he was a vegetarian. He built raft due to the tiger, so he could keep himself alive.

Piscine Molitor Patel :  A protagonist or a brave, religious, enthusiastic, dedicated 16 years old boy. He never surrendered. He believed in Gods. He was a comrade of Richard Parker. He was the only human survivor in Tsimtsum’s wreck.

Richard Parker : A 450 –pound Bengal tiger. Not only a great companion of Pi but also a dangerous beast. This creature killed hyena and the Frenchman who tried to kill Pi.

Santosh Patel :  Pi’s father and the owner of the zoo. He was affectionate, always thought about his family and a protective father.

Gita Patel : Mother of Pi and she was kind, comforting and delicate. She defended her sons from being punished or scolded. She was the reason why Pi became multiple religions.

Ravi Patel : a boy who was the elder brother of Pi. He was playful and mischievous. He usually teased Pi about his belief in religions.

Orangutan was a wonderful ape who had been described as “orange juice” by Pi Hyena was an animal which had cruel, deceitful and mean behaviors.

Zebra   was a pathetic and dull animal and its leg was broken. Later, it had been eaten by hyena .

Literary Device:. Anthropomorphism. Two castaways chit-chatted about their desire for food in chapter 90. Pi cared about Richard Parker, worried about him and even said “I love you!” to him despite he knew that the tiger wouldn’t understand human language..

Orange Juice In chapter 42, Pi said, “She lay flat on the tarpaulin for several minutes, quite and still,” to show an ape was shocking about the shipwreck and she was relieving herself from that tragic occurrence. Pi described her that she seemed to suffering a medical condition because Pi thought, “Orange Juice had seemed practically cataleptic” in chapter 43.

LIFE Pl. Life of Pi is a novel which contains emotional as well as memorable moments, life-lessons, knowledges about religions and spirituality, importance of companionship and self-perception. If this novel was written about real or fake incident, it is a nice novel and worth to give the time..
