The Program Management Division of PEMO conducted Skills Training on Fish Processing participated by six (6) Coastal People’s Organizations in the following three (3) LGUs: Himamaylan City, Kabankalan City and Municipality of Manapla. The Resource Speakers were experts from the partner academe-Carlos Hilado Memorial State College, Talisay City in the persons of Ms. Ida Pabiana and Ms. Arlene Visitacion . This training aims to provide knowledge and improve the skills of the participants in the preparation, processing and packaging of fish products for quality improvement and market competitiveness. Further, this could also be used by the participants as income generating or livelihood project while rehabilitating, protecting and maintaining the existing mangroves and coastal environment. The said training was conducted on-site and attended by the following POS with 15 participants per PO: 4 POs in Himamaylan City 1. Punta Batang Mangroves Planters Ass’n ., 2. Mapait Mangroves Planters Ass’n ., 3. Malusay Integrated Fisherfolks Ass’n . and 4. Beta Small Fisherfolks Ass’n .), 1 PO in Kabankalan City (Sustainable Promotion Economic Enterprise Development-SPEED), and 1 PO in Manapla ( Manapla Fish Vendors Association). The training was funded by GAD Fund 2021 of the Provincial Government. The venue and other support materials were provided by the host LGUs..

PEMO WITH BATA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL CONDUCT SKILLS TRAINING ON DRESSMAKING FOR FISHER FOLKS PEMO Program Management Division in collaboration with Bata National High School Master Teacher II Edna R. Edullan conducted skills Training on dressmaking to the coastal fisherfolks of Bago City. This activity was spearheaded by PMD Head and Coastal Ecosystem Management Coordinator and staff as a livelihood support through the provision of training materials to coastal community. A livelihood swap to mangrove rehabilitation, protection and maintenance is used in the project implementation. This project definitely augment the income of the members of the fisherfolk association esp the women who are actively involved as beneficiaries. Abanse Negrense!.
