By: Eboni Franklin. Integrating AI with Cybersecurity.
Introduction of Project Topic. The project topic is Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is an everchanging world and is constantly trying to improve how things are handled in the cyberworld to make things safer and more efficient. Many ideas have been attempted to help improve the cybersecurity world but have not changed key aspects within cybersecurity. The integration of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in Cybersecurity would allow for a safer, efficient and manageable approach when dealing with certain issues within Cybersecurity..
Common Issues in Cybersecurity. These are the issues that will be addressed within the PowerPoint and be presented with a solution that has been proven efficient using AI or issues that have no solution using AI and an opinionated solution to the issues. Detection of Threats Credit Card Fraud Vulnerability Management Authentication Security Overall Security New Vulnerabilities Education/Training.
Detection of Threats. Threats are common in cybersecurity as that is an indicator that a hacker is attempting to attack your system or network. There have been systems that were already created in attempt to detect and prevent a threat from going any further. These systems have been found to be effective, but the use of AI, specifically machine learning, has been seen to allow a quicker, efficient way of detecting and preventing threats from expanding further. The use of AI will spot the threat and warn the user as soon as an abnormality is spotted. AI is found to be a great asset for detection of threats..
Credit Card Fraud. Fraudulent actions specifically with credit cards have become an issue within cybersecurity. Companies have made their own attempts to protect consumer information, but it has not been the most effective. The use of AI services can ensure that there are extra steps taken to verify the card holder before proceeding. AI would make things safer, but not necessarily as convenient for consumer use. Machine learning could as be used as a tool to notify the consumer if their password is not the safest and that they should consider changing it. These extra steps can prevent major damage for consumers and companies..
Vulnerability Management. Vulnerability management is an essential part in cybersecurity for a company/business. Having a strong vulnerability management ensures a company’s network is secure and able to understand vulnerabilities that have occurred or possibly are occurring. Cybersecurity personnel are normally the ones reviewing and analyzing what occurs within the system, but humans are not capable of viewing all this data as quick. The use of AI would allow for systems to be analyzed quicker which makes problem solving a quicker process. AI would identify weak points and provide a more detailed description. Cybersecurity personnel using AI would make managing vulnerabilities a simpler more efficient task..
Authentication Security. Authentication security is important when ensuring the correct user is accessing certain systems or networks. Many companies are beginning to use extra security to verify user identity. Using AI would ensure that the user must provide the proper login, but also authenticate each time they sign in. This is a safe, but not always the most convenient approach, but it would prevent attack and threats from occurring. AI features that could be utilized includes facial recognition or even fingerprint scanners. These extra steps can prevent attackers from gaining access to sensitive information or systems..
Overall Security. Security is important in cybersecurity; it is even included within the name. Companies always want to ensure that their networks, systems, technology, etc. is protected from any and everything. AI is a tool that is evolving and becoming a highly used tooln when dealing with areas humans are not the most quick or efficient in. The help of AI would ensure that companies remain protected, but also handle the issues in a timelier manner. AI and humans working together will change the way the cyberworld is protected and handled for the greater good..
New Vulnerabilities. AI has been proven to change the world of cybersecurity and is continuing to evolve every day. However, just as AI changes, there are more new vulnerabilities occurring that we are unaware. There are no approaches on how to handle these vulnerabilities. AI can be used to detect them, but the software does not how to handle them as it is new to AI. As vulnerabilities are occurring, we must learn them and attempt to improve AI to handle the new challenge that the cyberworld is bound to face..
Education/Training. As cybersecurity changes, some does the information that needs to be stated within training and even education within colleges. AI is constantly changing as well, so companies must ensure that employees are staying educated. The best approach is to make sure that individuals over employee training are aware and are constantly changing and ensuring that employees understand and are aware of what is happening in the cyber world. Training is essential and must stay up-to-date and relevant..
Avenues for Research & Application In Other Areas.
Main Terms and Definitions. Cybersecurity: the practice of protecting critical systems and sensitive information from digital attacks Artificial Intelligence: a field, which combines computer science and robust datasets, to enable problem-solving. Machine Learning: a method of data analysis that automates analytical model building Vulnerability: weakness in an information system, system security procedures, internal controls, or implementation that could be exploited or triggered by a threat source..
Main Terms and Definitions. Threat: a process that magnifies the likelihood of a negative event, such as the exploit of a vulnerability Authentication: Verifying the identity of a user, process, or device, often as a prerequisite to allowing access to resources in an information system. Fraud: the crime committed via a computer with the intent to corrupt another individual's personal and financial information stored online. Training: encourages employees to understand IT security issues, identify security risks, and learn the importance of responding to cybersecurity issues.
