There are three elements of communication These are: communicator (Encoding), the message, and the receiver (Decoding).  There should be feedback in order to ensure that communication is effective. Effective Communication can be affected by barriers such as Noise.

4	Theoretical and Methodological Approaches to Instructional Communication

The instructional communication literature is rich with a number of theoretical frameworks and innovative research protocols. Theories and methodologies associated with instructional communication has emerged since the year 2001. Since then research informed by theory has developed in order to enhance instructional communication(Merton, 1957, p. 102).

Instructional Communication Theory, Research and Methods

Instructional communication (IC) researchers have started investigating the interactive nature of instruction and learning.  These studies focuses on the kinds of interactions between the instructors and learners which occur in the educational systems. IC researchers have employed critical thinking, research designs, and data analyses in interpreting findings to the classroom setup.

USING HUMOUR IN INSTRUCTIONAL COMMUNICATION

Humour as defined by Martin, (2007) communication of multiple, odd meanings but are funny in nature. Instructor humour makes students to be motivated and desire to do well in their class course work. Humour itself is a pleasurable emotional which can be fun and hilarious creating great excitement Martin(2007)

INSTRUCTIONAL COMMUNICATION AND CLASSROOM APPLICATION

Learners should be active participants and not merely passive or receptive in classroom( Polya , 1965) Goal setting on the part of the instructor helps in choosing the best teaching methods to apply in the classroom. Humour can be used to create group consistency through mutual satisfaction

Research has shown that clarity of explanation is be necessary for effective teaching and empirical evidence shows that it helps in effective delivery of IC (Cruickshank and Kennedy, 1986, p. 43).  Clarity is one of the main important function in the delivery of instructions teaching (Feldman, 1997). Communicating with clarity can prevent misunderstandings and motivate the students.

Scene 10

Instructional communication, only becomes functional when it  enhances the interpersonal skills and interaction of every member of  the classroom.
