[Audio] We have some good news to share. Our patient satisfaction scores have been at a 100% for the last 6 months, this is an amazing accomplishment Pump scanning continues to be greater than 90%, great work! Medication scanning rate is greater than 98% as a unit, with the number of medications we give, this is quite an accomplishment, keep up the good work. Call ins have been very low and usually when someone needs to call in the team is quick to pitch in and help cover. We continue to see improvement in our fall safety documentation. When I last spoke to Doctor Alabhai, he is very happy with he work we are doing with his bariatric patient's..
[Audio] Unfortunately, there is some bad news to go with the good. Lately we have had an increased number of falls resulting in injury, this will be discussed in more detail later in the presentation. There have been an increase in medication errors including wrong choice medications and not scanning full dose of narcotics. Post surgical patients are not being ambulated properly. There have been issues regarding the pain control of patient's. There have been several occasions when patients were not ready for surgery coming from the floor. There have been two patient's that did not have armbands on. Patients have been sent home without Home health properly being set up Input and output issue with bariatric patients ..
[Audio] When comes to medicating spine patients, always use the first-choice medication and follow the orders given, if you have any questions, please contact the charge nurse or physician. Please remember to always reassess the patient's pain after medicating, if you need to you can use a reminder on your phone so you don't forget..
[Audio] Remember that Doctor Tauntons patients are to always be walked in the hall. Doctor Williams patients only ambulate in the room, it's very important that we comply with the physicians' orders. Continuously reassess the patients' pain, do not let it get too out of control. Do not be afraid to use both intravenous and oral medications till the pain is controlled. PT will always have instructions and limitations on ambulating a patient, do not ambulate if you are unsure of the limitations, always ask. Walkers are color code so please make sure that you are choosing the correct walker for the patient. Always remember to use a gait belt when ambulating a patient, and never under any circumstances leave a patient alone in the bathroom, if you have to stay outside the bathroom with the door cracked, this is not negotiable..
[Audio] When charting on the bariatric patients, you must chart strict input and output. You should also chart if they pass gas or not. This will give the surgeon a clear picture. Remember that bariatric patients have a strict fluid restriction, if you have any questions make sure to call the surgeon, do not guess. Please walk these patients as often as possible and make sure they are out of bed for all meals..
[Audio] We have three new staff members starting , make sure to make them feel welcome..
[Audio] We are almost at the end of the year, so please make sure that you complete all my talent assignments, RQI and self evaluations. Please do not miss completing these items and miss out on the year end profit sharing..
[Audio] Here are the top-quality issues we need to be aware of. As of December first, all narcotics must be wasted within 30 minutes of dispensing, always make sure that if you are giving two narcotic tablets that you scan both. If there is an error it will result in disciplinary action All patients must have both ID band and allergy band on, no exceptions When there is a patient that is going to surgery from the floor, we need to ensure that the patient is ready to go with IV access, consent signed and in a gown. Script pads are to be kept o the pyxis, not at the nurses station. When you notify a physician of patient changes, make sure to enter in under M.D. notification..
[Audio] We have new bedside commodes so if you see any that need to be changed, please replace it, we also have slings for the Hoyer lift. Do not send any patients away from the emergency room, you do not want to get an EMTALA violation. If it is more than we can handle, the physician can call 911 Make sure you that you keep the charge nurse informed of all changes If you are transferring a call, make sure you get someone on the other line and let them know you are transferring them a call. If you are unsure if a patient is leaving, go ahead and order them a meal. When giving medications, make sure that you go over the side effects with the patient and family Please be aware of the noise level at the nurse station, we have had some patient complaints..
