MY CULTURE IS MY PRIDE. INTRODUCTION. Culture is an evolution that people hold on to customs and values that had been followed decades back and still continuing to pass on to the next generation. Indian culture has been widely known that many tourists visit India to explore the culture and monuments..

Greeting people and hospitality have always been important for Indian people.

Commonly Indians greet with the traditional Hindu greeting [Namaste], and different religion have their own way of greeting people.

They usually avoid hugging or kissing while greeting people.

LANGUAGE. Hindi is the national language and there are also variety of languages spoken in India..

People in India usually try to speak appeasingly with strangers or people they know little to avoid conflicts and to create a bond between them.

For Indian people directly refusing something by saying ‘NO’ is considered as harsh, so they always try to refuse something by saying ‘I’ll try my level best’ or by saying ‘maybe’.

They also use non-verbal language like nodding their head to agree or disagree. They also use some gestures to convey the message like pointing the index finer towards someone is considered to be accusatory and feet are thought to be the dirtiest part of the body, displaying the soles of one’s feet or touching people with one’s feet is considered rude.

TRADITION AND CLOTHING. India is well known for tradition and clothing. From food to dance Indian tend to follow their tradition. Each religion people follow their own tradition. A more of joint family can be found and arrange marriage is still a strong tradition in India..

When it comes to food each region has their own tradition for example North Indians eat lot of wheat food [chapati] while South Indian add lot of rice in their meal. The food is cooked using lot of herbs and spices which Indians find it tasty to eat. They also cook specific traditional food during festival times and it can be said that there are hundreds of festivals celebrated in India.

India has many great epics dating back many centuries in the form of stories, poems, plays and self-help guides. India offers a wide variety of dance forms which vary throughout each state. When it comes to clothing, Indian are very much obligated towards their traditional clothing. Each part of India has different types of clothing style but saree for women and dhoti for men are commonly worn by people.

LITERATURE REVIEW- THE CONCEPT OF DIVERSITY AND MULTICULTURALISM

An analysis journal written by Dr. Sudhir K Arora by analysing the K.V Dominic’s poems says that in India there is unity in diversity Diversity leads to multiculturalism but he says that this term is not used in a positive mode always. To acknowledge diversities and differences results in a healthy relationship among the people who are free to promote their cultures without encroaching on other’s space. Various cultures are bunch of variety of flowers in bouquet of multiculturalism. This journal writer wants to conclude that there is unity in diversity as people promote this in a negative way. Also, that multiculturalism does not force us to combine all the culture but to understand, learn about other culture and to respect them.  The article written by Sonia Balhara deals with study of unity and diversity and its various importance.   Unity in diversity is based on the concept where the individual has variations in physical qualities, skin colour, castes, creed, cultural and religious traditions, etc. are not seen as a dispute. The writer concluded that Unity in diversity instructs us that although we are from diverse caste, creed or race, these variations cannot keep us apart and we are eternally united for the improvement of our nation. This is the most uncommon event which is exposed in our country. It not only performs the nation united and strengthened but it also holds us alive in the old eras, the belief of co-existence with love, peace, and respect.

As the findings and conclusion of the literature review drawn from two different journals or articles concludes that there is unity in diversity even though each of us are different from one another. Its all about not weakening the diversity but to unify it ..
