Scene 4 (34s)

[Audio] The Ontario Eastern White Cedar Tree is a hardy and fast-growing tree. It is a beautiful landscaping tree and is a popular choice for hedges. It provides privacy, wind block, and noise reduction..

Scene 5 (50s)

[Audio] It has small scaly leaves that are a yellowish-green colour and cover the tree's fan-shape twigs..

Scene 6 (0s)

[Audio] At its maturity, it grows to about 40' tall with a 12' spread..

Scene 7 (1m 9s)

[Audio] Here is our price list of the various sizes we sell along with how many trees you will need for every 10 feet of hedge. The planted price is correct as we only charge about $3 per tree for planting them..

Scene 8 (1m 33s)

[Audio] These are some of the questions our customers have asked: What quality are your cedar trees? We sell only high-quality cedar trees. We select the best bushy trees from the farm that have no signs of burning or chafing. What size trees should I get for instant privacy? 11–15-foot trees will give you instant privacy within one year from planting. Smaller sizes will take time to give you this result..

Scene 9 (2m 5s)

[Audio] What distance apart will you plant the cedar trees and how do I know how many I will need? We plant one tree per every three-quarter foot for the 3-8 foot trees and one tree per every 1 and a quarter foot for trees larger than 9 feet. Measure the linear distance in feet of the area you want hedged. When is the ideal time to plant cedar trees? Ideal times are when the ground is wet and moist but it is okay to plant them anytime when there is no frost. As long as the after-care instructions are followed as far as watering after transplanting, the trees will continue to grow healthy and strong..

Scene 10 (2m 46s)

[Audio] Do you dig by hand or with specialized equipment and how deep do you dig? We dig a trench by hand which is about one to two feet wide and about one foot down for the 3–8-foot trees and one and a quarter to one and a half feet down for trees larger than 9 feet. What if we don't have a fence in the location where you are to plant the cedars? We often plant cedar trees in areas without fences. We will secure the13 to 15 foot height cedar trees to the fence, but if there isn't a fence, it's recommended that customers provide us with metal T-bar stakes on the planting date..

Scene 11 (3m 23s)

[Audio] How long does it take to plant the cedar trees? There are so many variables as to the length of time it will take, such as weather conditions, accessibility of the area to be hedged, distance from our trucks, soil type, size of trees, etc. Generally, jobs take about two to five hours. At times we will have to reschedule the planting date due to heavy rain as it's difficult to uproot the trees from the farm. Can I plant them myself? It is your choice whether you want them delivered and planted, delivered only, or you would like to pick them up. An after-care instruction sheet will be provided in all cases. How tall will cedar trees grow? They will grow about 1 to 2 feet per year depending on the soil conditions..

Scene 12 (4m 14s)

[Audio] How long will it take for the cedar trees to become a full privacy hedge? This depends on the height of tree we are planting..

Scene 13 (4m 28s)

[Audio] In order to keep your cedar trees healthy. Please follow these recommendations and tips:.

Scene 14 (4m 42s)

[Audio] Location Choosing an appropriate site is very important when planting a cedar hedge. It is recommended to plant a cedar hedge three to four feet away from walkways, roads, or any property edges where salt is used over the winter. Salt damages the evergreen foliage causing tissue death. If you must plant it close to a major roadway where salt is used during the winter, wrap burlap on the side of the cedar that is facing the exposure to salt..

Scene 15 (5m 14s)

[Audio] Planting Begin by measuring the distance of the planting line For all cedars – Keep each tree straight and hold in its finished location before replacing the soil..

Scene 16 (5m 28s)

[Audio] Soil Organically rich soil is preferable to help maintain moisture. Cedars like moist environments naturally. Supplementing the existing soil with triple mix, compost and/or manure will improve the soil's water retention..

Scene 17 (5m 47s)

[Audio] Watering Watering thoroughly with a soaker hose is crucial for helping cedars take root after planting. We will provide you with watering instructions specific to the season that they are being planted..

Scene 18 (6m 3s)

[Audio] Pruning It's not advisable to prune the cedar trees, especially the leader for one year after the transplant. When pruning, keep them slightly narrower on top to allow even light conditions on all branches. This shape helps maintain fullness towards the base of the hedge and allows snow to fall off the branches in winter. Never cut more than one third of the tree in one season..
