[Virtual Presenter] Good morning everyone. Today I will be presenting a proof of concept to deploy the HCA service via Quark for our PDA and PDO teams. We will be looking at fresh launch and upgrade activities, orchestration, and serviceability tasks. Let's dive right in and review the details..

[Virtual Presenter] For our POC to deploy HCA service via Quark PDA and PDO teams on November 17th, 2022, we aim to use this as an opportunity to identify any gaps in the current deployment process and develop solutions for any issues that may arise. The POC will include providing a demonstration of the system and activities taken, in addition to a view of the status and results. To further understand what is planned for the POC, let's look at the specifics..

[Audio] Quark is the ideal solution for implementing and deploying a health care analytics service. It cuts down on deployment time drastically, and has been proven to be a dependable and safe platform. We want to apply the same use-cases that we use with RightScale deployment automation, but with Quark instead. This will maximize the proficiency and output of our service deployment, while guaranteeing it is managed appropriately in a GKE cluster..

[Audio] We will conduct a POC to launch a new HCA service that will be deployed via Quark PDA and PDO teams before 17-Nov-2022. The deployment includes both major and minor application updates, fixes, rollback and orchestration of upgrades. It is essential to guarantee the solution's supportability and serviceability requirements are met..

[Audio] Completed activities include net new deployment, next version service upgrade, same version image upgrade, K8S configuration updates, executing schema updates, and rollback to the previous version. Pending activities include point-in-time marker snapshot during the upgrade, RabbitMQ queue creation, and template publishing..

[Audio] Objective of this POC is to integrate Orchestrator with Quark, utilizing Quark-specific APIs to initiate, monitor and reactivate flight plans and their associated targets. Scope is to make a flight plan within a namespace which encompasses multiple targets in a halted state. Each target ties to a deployment atmosphere within Dimensions. Orchestration should be able to arrange and trigger upgrades, similar to today's behavior, however accessing the targets of the flight plan instead of a RightScale account..

[Audio] The current status of the project is that we have identified the APIs that are required for integration and development is in progress. We have however identified two challenges: the lack of network connectivity between VMs in the engineering google project and the quark gateway, and the lack of an option to re-trigger a failed target. We are actively working on addressing these challenges and will provide updates on our progress..

[Audio] Objective of this proof of concept is to leverage serviceability tasks provided by HEM platform to execute standard operating procedures for HCA. Scope is to implement update_replicas_count custom action, currently managed by RightScale, into REST API endpoint form and deploy as sidecar container in GKE. When deployed, endpoint can be executed using HEM's Serviceability Task feature, giving flexibility to increase/decrease workloads in live HCA deployment as required..

[Audio] Key learnings from a POC involving Fresh Launch and Upgrade activities, Orchestration and Serviceability tasks were very positive. Areas for improvement were identified to optimize deployment of the HCA service via Quark and encompass application deployment, network, and artifact management processes. Additionally, Quark and HEM services require features and enhancements to make cost and resource savings while improving service. All of this has been documented in the Confluence Link - https://engconf.int.kronos.com/display/DevX/HCA+POC+-+Learnings+and+Recommendations..

[Audio] Thank you all for taking the time to be here for this presentation. It has been a long and detailed discussion, but I trust it was a worthwhile experience. We have discussed the POC to deploy the HCA service through Quark, the associated Fresh Launch and Upgrade activities, Orchestration and Serviceability tasks, the current status, demo and findings. The insights and recommendations provided here will be invaluable to the company's PDA and PDO teams. Thank you all for your attention and contributions..
