Advantages Disadvantages -Wide field of view -Magnifier to object distance must be maintained for magnification and this can lead to fatigue -Hands free  -Close distance between object and spectacle magnifier needed especially with higher power of the lens in the spectacle magnifier (as a result of the shorter focal length) -Variable working distance (magnifier to eye) without affecting magnification provided that object is held at the focal point of the convex lens -Thick lenses
