[Audio] The Gaoshan Pine ( Pinus Densata) is an evergreen coniferous species of Pine in section Pinus that grows to mature heights of 100 feet or ( 30 m) tall with a trunk up to 52 inches or ( 130 cm) in diameter, measured at breast height. The tree's crown is ovoid-conical shaped, spreading in old trees. Its bark is typical for section Pinus in that it is gray at the base of the tree then gradually turns red towards the crown. This species is native to China , specifically Qinghai, western Sichuan, Yunnan, and southeastern Tibet, growing at elevations of 8,500 to 11,500 feet or ( 2,600 - 3,500 m), occasionally to 13,800 feet (4,200 m). It forms pure stands at high elevations and found mixed with Pinus armandii and Pinus yunnanensis below 10,000 feet or (3,000 m). Among the Chinese hard pines, Pinus densata grows at the highest elevations. The cones start off reddish and develop a shiny, brown color when mature..

[Audio] How To germinate Gaoshan Pine The pine cones are fertilized during May, and mature in October the following year. The individual seeds are mostly dark brown or black, and have wings. Collect the cones in october, remove the seeds from the cone by shaking, and separate them from the wings. Then, store the dry seed in freezing temperatures to preserve viability for sowing in spring. Step 1: remove seeds from storage and soak the seeds in water for 36 hours. After soaking, sow the seed in your desired location, or germinate the seeds in folded paper towel enclosed in a ziplock bag, and then sow the seeds at the desired location. Step 2: Water the soil frequently as the seedlings pop up, but not too much or they will Dampen off. Keep the seedlings in shade during heat waves. Step 3: Once the seedlings are 1 to 2 years old, fertilize them once in summer with a slow release nitrogen fertilizer. Water the seedlings after fertilization to prevent nitrogen burns..

[Audio] Gaoshan Pine grows best in its native range, but can be grown successfully in the Temperate and subtropical regions of the planet. In The US, Gaoshan Pine grows best from USDA zones 6- 9. The plant is highly tolerant of drought and large diurnal ranges. Gaoshan Pine can thrive in much of the European Continent, as it is mostly temperate. In Asia, Gaoshan Pine grows best in West and East Asia, at higher elevations. Specimens in lower elevations need more attention. The regions highlighted in green are where the Gaoshan Pine would thrive. Thank you so much for watching this video, and I hope you learned something from this today. I would really appreciate if you liked the video because it helps me a lot!.
