WHAT ? NGOs  face trouble for  their   lack  of  transparency  and  undemocratic   functioning . There  is  a  rise  in cases of issues  leading  to money  laundering  and  fund   mismanagement  of the  NGOs .  For  example ,  after  a  meticulous  9-month investigation in the Democratic  Republic  of Congo (DRC),  journalist  Philippe  Kleinfeld   discovered   that   several   humanitarian   agencies   had   lost  up to 6 million dollars in  two   years   because  of agents  corrupted  by  Congolese  entrepreneurs  with  the  complicity  of local notables.

WHEN ? Embezzlement within NGOs has always existed . Although governments are trying to regulate it , it is still a problem ..

WHERE ? The countries  where  the  NGOs   concerned   operate  are the first  victims  of  this   problem ,  since   they  are populations in  need  of  aid  but the  funds  are  stolen   from   them .  Mostly ,  NGOs  are active in  underdeveloped  countries,  such  as in  Africa  and Asia.

WHY ? Embezzlement  in  NGOs   is  a  problem  for  several   reasons : - First of all, people in  need   who  are  supposed  to  be   helped  by  these  " NGOs " do not  receive   any  help -  Secondly ,  these   NGOs   make  donation  campaigns  in  developed  countries  using  the  misery  of the people to incite the populations of  developed  countries to  donate ,  then   steal   this  money.
