[Audio] An overview of Schneider Electric's Smart Water portfolio highlights the significant growth potential within the water sector, which is currently experiencing an estimated annual growth rate of approximately 8%. Furthermore, it is anticipated to achieve a remarkable compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14%. While the majority of this growth is attributed to municipal applications, there is also a notable contribution from the industrial sector. Schneider Electric has established itself as a leader in operational technology (OT) within the Water and Wastewater sector, particularly in the realm of IT/OT convergence, especially following the acquisition of Aveva and OSIsoft. On a global scale, we have successfully addressed critical challenges faced by utility companies, including Non-Revenue Water management, leakage control, energy management, asset health, and key performance indicators (KPIs), enabling them to better meet the needs of their customers..
[Audio] Now, we will look at the market leaders. You can see OSISoft is the market leader in historian solutions and has integrated into Schneider Electric..
[Audio] Schneider Electric is the number one in the HMI market worldwide for a couple of years. It is the HMI leader for the North American utilities..
[Audio] We were acknowledged by GWI as the Water Technology Company of the year in 2022. We come under the quadrant of being a market leader while having a single solution to address different challenges of the customer. So, all this tells you that we have a great position within Schneider Electric for smart water offerings..
[Audio] EcoStruxure Water Advisor sits on the Level 3 of the EcoStruxure for Water and Wastewater along with the other tools in Schneider Electric, such as the EcoStruxure Asset Advisor, Power Advisor and Resource Advisor. And being on Level 3, we are hardware and software agnostics, and we are able to connect to any industrial SCADA solutions, be it within Schneider, Aveva or third party as long it is supported by OPC and SQL. So, if it is using a standard industry protocol, we are able to connect to the third-party SCADA software or other third-party IT/OT platforms that needs to be connected..

[Audio] Recently we came into an agreement with Suez. So we brought in a couple of Suez portfolios as well into our basket. We support the full water cycle with combination of Suez products, and no one else in the market covers the whole water cycle. The circled ones are Schneider Electric's portfolio..
[Audio] EcoStruxure Water Simulation, as I have mentioned, this is previously known as Aquis, it is actually a real time hydraulic modelling, or I would say the digital twin of the water supply network..
[Audio] The data we need includes SCADA real-time measurements, billing data, and GIS data, which encompasses static asset data like pipelines, customers, valves, pumps, tanks, and water sources. Additionally, if the utility possesses a hydraulic model in Epanet format, we can convert it into our tool. Billing data to be used can range from manual records stored in a database to AMI or AMR data. By integrating these datasets into our EWA Water Simulation tool, we can perform simulations for hydraulic calculations and water quality assessments. Our tool supports utilities in enhancing real-time control, understanding network behavior in terms of pressure, flow, water quality, water age, chlorine concentration, and more. It also helps in generating alerts for issues such as low pressure, high pressure, and low chlorine concentration..
[Audio] EWA Water Simulation offers real-time modelling and forecasting capabilities based on the current conditions of the network. It is also designed for offline modelling, planning, and design purposes. For those involved in town planning or consulting firms interested in exploring how their network would respond to various scenarios—such as the expansion of a new township, pipe rehabilitation, or changes to the network—EWA Water Simulation can provide valuable insights. It can help answer questions like: - How will these changes affect your existing or future network? - What will the impact be on customers downstream of a pipe? - What will be the pressure upstream or downstream? To better understand these impacts, you have the option for offline modelling. However, our expertise lies in real-time modelling, where we integrate SCADA measurements to simulate real-time operations. This includes what-if scenarios to evaluate the effects of closing valves, managing pipe maintenance, or addressing leaks, and understanding the implications for downstream customers and network pressure. Additionally, EWA Water Simulation offers three advanced modules: 1. Pressure Optimization: This module is designed to optimize network pressure, ensuring that only the minimum required pressure reaches customers. By reducing pressure at unnecessary high levels, it helps minimize leak flow from existing leaks and prevents new leaks from forming. 2. Pumping Optimization: It allows for the precise pumping of what is actually needed, aligning with the network's demand. This optimization saves significant amounts of pumping energy—the utility's most expensive operational cost. 3. Leak Detection and Location: This module is specifically focused on the detection and location of leaks within transmission pipelines. It offers a robust system for identifying and addressing leak issues promptly. By leveraging these advanced features, EWA Water Simulation helps utility managers make informed decisions.
[Audio] The unique advantage we offer in Water Simulation, which our competitors lack, is our real-time network management capabilities and real-time optimization modules. Most of our competitors provide offline hydraulic analysis tools, which are disconnected from real-time data. Additionally, their tools have limited functionality for simulating the network in a real-time environment. We also have a robust built-in formula library that allows users to create custom calculations. These calculations can be as simple as those done in Excel, requiring minimal coding knowledge from the end user. These custom calculations, along with measurements and hydraulic simulations, can be used to derive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These KPIs can then be sent back to the SCADA system. For instance, our system supports bi-directional data communication, enabling us to gather data from SCADA to run simulations and send back setpoints or custom calculations for display on the SCADA HMI. We also offer a custom dashboard equivalent of the HMI, designed to assist the operator, who will be the day-to-day user of our tool. By providing a customized dashboard, the SCADA room operator does not need to possess in-depth hydraulic knowledge. Furthermore, our system seamlessly integrates with existing data sources such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), and hydraulic models, all through the use of standard files and protocols. This is why I believe we are both hardware and software agnostic..
[Audio] Before we proceed with the demonstration, I would like to quickly share this use case. VCS Denmark is a relatively small utility, and we have experience with utilities of all sizes, which we will explore later in the presentation. Established as one of the oldest water utilities in Denmark, VCS serves approximately 180,000 customers and manages a water and wastewater system. Their infrastructure includes around 1,100 kilometers of pipeline, 36,000 service connections, and they maintain one of the lowest water loss rates globally, estimated at just 6%. Their annual water production is approximately 9 million cubic meters. VCS has been a long-time user of our water simulation technology. Their initial motivation for adopting this project was to gain a comprehensive understanding of their entire network. They required a tool to analyze the operations of their extensive pipeline system and to forecast network behavior, enabling them to maintain control over their infrastructure. They aim to monitor pressure, flow, and velocity delivered to customers at any given moment. Additionally, they utilize a pressure optimization tool to automatically determine pressure set points, which are then communicated back to their SCADA system, creating a closed-loop control mechanism. Data from SCADA feeds into this tool, which conducts analyses and returns pump and pressure set points to SCADA. Over the years, VCS has achieved significant results, particularly in reducing non-revenue water, positioning themselves as one of the most advanced water utilities today..
